How we should assess India's performance at Paris Olympics

Tom Cruise jumped off the stadium roof in a spectacular stunt to bring down the curtains on Paris 2024 and announce the 2028 Los Angeles Games. India's 117-member contingent secured six medals - one silver and five bronze - but questions about the overall performance linger in mind. The highlight of India’s campaign was shooter Manu Bhaker’s redemption, Swapnil Kusale's surprise medal, and the hockey team's consecutive bronze. Neeraj Chopra’s silver felt bittersweet, after all, he was ‘expected’ to defend his Tokyo Gold. On the other hand, some medal hopefuls’ performances were underwhelming, to say the least. The Vinesh Phogat saga overshadowed the entire campaign and India still hopes that CAS ruling is in her favour.
