Malachi Smith, a guard from Gonzagas 2022-23 Elite Eight team, has signed a 10-day contract with the Brooklyn Nets. Smith, who played for Long Island in the G League, will fill in for injured forward Grant Nelson. Smith, who averaged 14.4 points, 5.6 assists, 4.5 rebounds, and 1.4 steals per game, is excited about his opportunity. He previously played for Chattanooga and earned West Coast Conference Sixth Man of the Year honors. Smith could make his NBA debut soon, as the Nets face Philadelphia, Portland, and Oklahoma City in the next few days.
