Six Air Force aviators, including Captain Ariana G. Savino from Washington, tragically lost their lives in a KC-135 refueling plane crash in Iraq. The incident occurred due to an incident with another aircraft in friendly airspace, not enemy action or friendly fire. Savino, a courageous pilot and chief of current operations, was highly praised by Senator Patty Murray and her wing commander. The Defense Department is investigating the cause of the crash.
