Three Spokane high school seniors - Josephine Corbin, Claire Poulsen, and Nehemiah Areta - received the University of Washington Presidential Scholarship, a $10,000 annual award. This prestigious scholarship, given to around a dozen top Washington state seniors each year, significantly reduces the burden of the $13,406 undergraduate tuition. The students families and friends celebrated their achievements, with Josephines father calling it a dream come true. Josephine, who has overcome health challenges, is a patient ambassador at Shriners Childrens Hospital and has dedicated her teen years to community service and advocacy. Claire, who switched to Lewis and Clark for tougher classes, is the chair of the Chase Youth Commission and has always dreamed of attending UW due to her fathers past connection to the university.
