But if to be is to be perceived in consciousness rather than to be the consciousness which perceives, something is inside out and upside down isn't it? So the extraordinary thing is that idealism, as it is understood in the West, is precisely materialism. Because isn't materialism the belief that what is real is that which is perceived? That’s all matter is, is that which is perceivable.
