In the age of communication, everyone has a religion. That is to say, we all put our attention and devotion into something.

The biblical story of wandering in the wilderness is a metaphor for the place where words and language do not exist. When we go into the wilderness, we do find God. The path of seeking means we've given up our allegiance to blind faith. It's yours and mine to discover our own path.

Henry David Thoreau said that to affect the quality of the day, that is the highest of arts. A willingness to embrace what comes up and what lies at the core of our experience is the basis of all meditation.

In our meditation practice, we need to keep it simple. Practice non-doing. Understand that nothing needs to happen for this moment to be complete. Practice patience, letting go, trust, and generosity.
