What if one of the quietest, deepest lakes in America was hiding more than just fish?
In this episode of Spirits Uncorked, we’re diving into the mysteries of Lake Pend Oreille in northern Idaho. A body of water so deep (over 1,100 feet) and so acoustically stable that the U.S. Navy uses it to test submarines and sonar technology. But military research isn’t the only thing beneath the surface.
Locals have reported sightings of a massive, serpentine creature known as the Pend Oreille Paddler for decades. Is it a cryptid that has evaded capture? A giant white sturgeon? Or something connected to the strange equipment interference reported on the lake?
And then there’s the ghost train. Mangled wreckage that lies at the bottom with no history and no explanation for how an entire train ended up underwater.
Pour a drink and imagine with us.
