KANGAROO WORDS

A kangaroo word is a word that carries within it a synonym of itself. The synonym is known as a 'joey'

For example:

  • MASCULINE - male

  • CHICKEN - hen

  • OBSERVE - see

  • BLOSSOM - bloom

Some words have more than one 'joey' , such as FEASTED which has a greedy 3 - fed/ eat/ ate.

To qualify as a kangaroo word the joey word has to have its letters in the same order within the kangaroo word and all the letters cannot be adjacent. So ENJOY / joy, for example, wouldn't qualify as a kangaroo word.
