1. Warm-up (1 min): The "Really?" Scale

Say "Really?" like this, with feeling:

  • ๐Ÿ˜ Statement: Really. (flat)
  • ๐Ÿคจ Doubt: Reaaaaally? (rising)
  • ๐Ÿ˜ค Sarcasm: Rea-lly. (falling, side-eye optional)

Repeat each one 3x with exaggerated tone.

2. Mini-Phrases (2 mins): RP Intonation Patterns

Say these aloud. Focus on pitch and phrasing.

  • Would you like some tea? (rising-falling)
  • That's quite alright. (falling)
  • I didn't say she stole the money. (stress shift = meaning shift)

3. Practice Sentences (2 mins): Meaning Through Melody

Try saying these naturally:

  • I'm not sure that's a good idea.
  • Well, that's one way to do it.
  • I'll let you know, shall I?
