在巨人工具一書中，作者訪問了名漫畫家亞當斯。 他的作品在65個國家被超過二千家新聞轉載。
在成名前，他每天都會在工餘時間畫漫畫。那時他的收入並不多，只有正職的5%。可是，每天持續畫漫畫，讓他建立了一個畫漫畫系統。他並沒有建立目標，而是建立了一個系統。
建立目標，會有完結即成功與否的一刻。相反，建立系統，則會持續推動他創作。後來，亞當斯被華爾街日報邀請開設專欄。由於系統為他建立了技能，所以他可以獲得機會。
