Lacy and Josh Vetter from the When Cinephiles Attack Podcast are the guests for our 2023 Valentine's Day episode and they're joining Ryan and Nicole to talk about the soundtrack to Michel Gondry's 2004 film, Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, which bounces between Jon Brion's score and songs from artists such as Beck, The Polyphonic Spree, and The Willowz. Jon Reilly from the Life's But a Song Podcast stops by to talk about the soundtrack to Richard Linklater's 2003 film, School of Rock. A movie that has since become a musical on Broadway. There was enough discussion about School of Rock to fill this episode as well as an episode on Life's But a Song, so please check that out as well, with guests Ryan and Nicole. The soundtrack for School of Rock is a mix of some original tunes from a couple of fake bands (The School of Rock and No Vacancy) as well as music from a bunch of classic rock royalty... and also The Darkness. S3 Ep 11The Crow (1994) - The 90s Rock Soundtrack Where Goth and Grunge Intersect with Free With This Month’s Issue’s Colin
Trigger Warning: There is brief mention of sexual assault in this episode since it is central to the plot of The Crow. Colin Jackson-Brown from the podcasts, Free with This Months's Issue and We Dig Music, talks with Brandice and Ryan about the soundtrack to the 1994 Alex Proyas film, The Crow. The film was a sleeper hit, while the soundtrack debuted at #1 on the Billboard albums chart and went on to go triple platinum. The soundtrack featured The Cure, Rage Against the Machine, Stone Temple Pilots, Helmet and Nine Inch Nails (covering Joy Division), among other artists, so it's success was much less of a surprise. Many of the bands were referenced in the comic books for The Crow, so Colin explains those connections. He also mentions a previously pitched vision for for The Crow that would've been absolutely insane. The discussion focuses primarily on the music, but obviously, the tragic on set death of Brandon Lee cannot be avoided. For More Information about Colin:Website: https://www.wedigpodcasts.comIG: freewiththismonthsissue, wedigmusicTwitter: thismonthsissue, wedigmusicWe would love it if you would join our Patreon membership, where you will get quarterly bonus episodes, early access to our regular episodes, and much more! This podcast uses the following third-party services for analysis: Podscribe - https://podscribe.com/privacySpotify Ad Analytics - https://www.spotify.com/us/legal/ad-analytics-privacy-policy/Soundtrack Your Life SocialsBlueskyInstagramWriting SiteYouTubePatreon Learn more about your ad choices. S3 Ep 108 Mile (2002) - The Blockbuster Soundtrack That Birthed Eminem's Award Winning Hit, "Lose Yourself" with Menage with the MariJayne Maven's MJ
We’ve reached Episode 50, and to celebrate this milestone, we're covering the blockbuster 8 Mile Soundtrack with MJ from the Menage with the MariJayne Maven Podcast! This multiplatinum soundtrack is the companion piece to the 2002 Curtis Hanson film, 8 Mile, which stars Eminem. Eminem is also the star of the soundtrack with his mega hit, "Lose Yourself", a song that has won an Oscar, a Grammy, topped the Billboard Top 100, and has been streamed over a billion times on Spotify. We discuss the soundtrack, which also helped launch the career of 50 Cent, the loaded cast in the film, and how Eminem demanded the film be shot on location, much like another Midwestern musician who starred in a film that was loosely on their life. Obviously, we also talk about the 2022 Super Bowl Halftime Show where Eminem performed "Lose Yourself" as part of the show. For More Information about MJ:Website: https://www.podpage.com/menage-with-the-marijayne-maven-podcast/IG: https://www.instagram.com/mwtmmpodcastTwitter: https://www.twitter.com/mwtmmpodcastWe would love it if you would join our Patreon membership, where you will get quarterly bonus episodes, early access to our regular episodes, and much more!
