One of the major things that can derail a good retirement plan is experiencing a healthcare event that doesn't kill you but requires you to need care for an extended time. The healthcare events that could cause you to need long-term care range from frailty and aging, recovering from an accident, having a stroke, getting cancer, getting Parkinson's disease, dementia, and of course the one that most of us fear......Alzheimers.
