Originally from Argentina, Juan Data moved to California about 20 years ago, and today’s conversation highlights his passion for Latin American hip hop and funk, his upcoming book “La Historia del Rap en Argentina,” the contrasts of freestyle and trap culture across Spanish language rap and how Bay Area music and nightlife scenes have evolved over the years, particularly in the face of gentrification.
