On November 7th, 2006, United Airlines employees at Chicago O’Hare International Airport witnessed a craft hovering silently above Gate C17. It wasn’t on radar. It didn’t have lights. It didn’t make a sound. And then, with no warning, it shot straight up through the clouds. Employees of the airport were told not to speak about it the press. The FAA denied the incident altogether. That was, until official FAA audio tapes were revealed, and told a story almost too incredible to believe. Continuing our coverage of the Tic Tac UFO incident, due to the recent bold claims by Ross Coulthart that have sparked major controversy in the UFO community, we bring you another interview from the archives where we spoke with several witnesses of both the Tic Tac and the Gimbal incidents. Gary Voorhis and Jason Turner describe the dramatic string of events that would ultimately lead to fighter jets being scrambled to intercept the mysterious, oblong-shaped object we've seen in the official Navy video released by the Department of Defense. Then, Matthew Roberts discusses the atmosphere on the USS Theodore Roosevelt when the other two DoD-released videos were filmed and how it was handled in real-time. More importantly, we discuss the impact these events have had on these men during and after, and how it has ultimately led to all three of them continuing to search for answers both in the skies, and from within. In 1959, a 325th Bomb Squadron B-52, one carrying live thermonuclear bombs, was followed across Canada by a UFO. The object was tracked on radar and sighted visually. An interceptor was scrambled from a USAF base in Montana but despite closing to 4 miles, its crew failed to identify what the UFO was, as the latter quickly outran and out-climbed it. Air Defense Command were concerned about a potentially new threat to the safety of the Continental United States, as shown via messages sent at the time. In 1952, during an attack run on a North Korean target, pilots from a flight of US Marine Corps F4U Corsairs spotted a white circular or oval shaped object orbitting over or near their objective. In January of 1960, radar operators onboard a B-52F Stratofortress on a routine mission over an offshore training range picked up a huge object flying at incredible speeds on a collision course with their aircraft. Never sighted visually, it passed by and was also detected by the B-52's tail warning gunnery radar. No other aircraft were on the range at the time. Ground radar did not pick up any contacts. Ryan speaks with documentary filmmaker, Jonathan Berman, about his film, Calling All Earthlings, based on the life and work of George Van Tassel. In 1947, George Van Tassel, a Howard Hughes employee and confidante, suddenly quits working for his mentor and ditches the straight life, moving deep into the Mojave Desert where he and his family sleep under a rock. He leaves behind a tattered Los Angeles in the grips of postwar paranoia, opting for the quietude of the Joshua Tree area. It is during an August 1953 full moon that Van Tassel has an encounter with extraterrestrials, who give him the information to build a rejuvenation machine he dubs “The Integratron.” Is Van Tassel crazy or could the Integratron really work? FBI agents try to halt the army of eccentrics who gather in the desert to create a collective, possibly threatening reality on the edge of the American Dream. A gentle inquiry into alternative culture, the story is told by the current residents of the Joshua Tree area, who must defend against rampant militarism and commercialization, all while still waiting for their spaceship. Ryan tells the incredible story of Herbert Schirmer. On December 3rd, 1967, Schirmer, a twenty-two-year-old police officer, was driving down a desolate highway in Ashland, Nebraska. He approached a pair of lights that he believed to be a stalled vehicle. When he got closer, he realized it wasn't a vehicle on the road, but a craft hovering in the night sky. After a few moments, the craft shot out of sight and the officer returned to his station, noting the sighting in his logbook. But for Schirmer, there seemed to be a period of missing time between when he first saw the object and when he left the area. And when he finally recalled what had happened in those missing moments, the story became far bigger and stranger than first imagined, prompting the Air Force and Government to investigate. Presented in association with the Omaha World-Herald and including actual audio from Schirmer himself, this is the story of the abduction in Ashland. July 1967: two young men driving along an Ohio road late one night encountered an object giving off an intense blue white glow. Their car apparently struck the object as it lifted away from the ground. Samples of a metallic substance, believed to be from the UFO, were retrieved the following morning by one of the witnesses. In February 1967, the crew of a Faucett Airlines DC-4 reported being buzzed for an extended period of time by a UFO shaped like an inverted cone while on an evening flight from Piura to Lima. Shortly after the UFO departed, it momentarily returned with a second, identical object and proceeded to buzz the airliner again before vanishing for good. Military authorities questioned the crew and passengers, apparently confiscating photos taken of the object. On a special episode of the podcast, we celebrate the 28th anniversary of the Phoenix Lights incident which took place on March 13th, 1997. That night, thousands of witnesses across Arizona saw strange lights in a V formation hovering above the state, particularly over the city of Phoenix. It's become one of the most widely publicized and documented mass UFO sightings in history. And Jason McClellan was one of those witnesses.
