Today Mike spends his time serving on two different not-for-profit boards, volunteering at local high schools and spending time with his grandchildren. Mike serves at the Chairman of the Board for A Door of Hope. A Door of Hope equips Christian families to open their hearts and homes to children in foster care. A Door of Hope provides the training, support, and Christ-centered community families need to become foster parents. Mike recently joined the board of directors for Michigan trade collective. The collective provides scholarships (Work Ethic Scholarship Program) to individuals pursuing training in skilled trades and partners with organizations like SkillsUSA to elevate the perception of vocational careers. Mike also volunteers with the Citrus County Coalition for College and Careers. The Citrus County Coalition for College & Careers is a nonprofit organization that works with community partners to support and provide resources that advance students' educational goals. While there, she authored her book called 1 Degree of Change, in addition to numerous other publications. In 2015, she graduated with her Masters in Human Nutrition and Functional Medicine degree.
