Drinking Pee In The Name Of Communication - Feel Good Friday
EThis week we kick it off with a story of IUD woes. Brian pretends he’s never heard of TikTok while Jer shows the fellas the latest witchcraft trend “the hanger reflex.” It works on Jer... so maybe he’s the witch. Devotees: the secret world of people who fetishize folks who live with disabilities. It’s a dark subject that the boys take a moment to unpack. As a little palate cleanser, they do a quiz from past guest Ethan on how comfortable they are with mortality! Finally, WHAT THE HELLTH?! Did you know dolphins drink their friends' piss to sort out who is who? Piss drinking recognition is the latest study in dolphin communication and we’re here for it. Sex In Space: The Case For Space Sexology
EIn this week's edition of Routine Checkup, the fellas sit down with Maria Santaguida. A Ph.D. candidate and lecturer in the Department of Psychology at Concordia University. She specializes in human sexuality, sexual technology, and substance-related sexual risk behaviours. Most interestingly her work also explores space sexology (the scientific study of extraterrestrial sexuality and intimacy) and how we can integrate sex research into space programs. In late 2021, she co-authored an article titled “The Case for Space Sexology”, which is published in the Journal of Sex Research. So... are astronauts doinking? If so, how does one doink in zero-G? These important questions and more on this week's Routine Checkup! *Join the post-episode conversation over on Discord! https://discord.gg/expeUDN

The aftermath resulted in a broken elbow and a stage 4 concussion... But the recovery process was nothing short of bonkers. From sleeping every moment of every day, to a long bout of insomnia, Kay-Lee was on a wild ride that was only just beginning. The post-accident recovery came with hormone irregularities, and next-level brain fog, not to mention the incredible emotional toll that comes with it all. Kay-Lee is still on her road to recovery and we’ll be rooting for her! *Join the post-episode conversation over on Discord! https://discord.gg/expeUDN
Save The Turtles!! Feed 'Em Mayonnaise!! - Feel Good Friday
EJeremie kicks this weekend off with a heartwarming video of a cute little creature being rescued from a dark and foreign place he probably shouldn't be. Two wanna-be grandparents in India are suing their son and daughter-in-law for not giving them grandchildren. Did you know that Moderna's name comes from "modified RNA"? Neither did we. Moderna just began human trials for the next big breakthrough in mRNA tech! Speaking of tech, what do you think is the latest concoction being used to save sea turtles from dying a horrible death via oil spills? Mayo. Bring back straws and drench the ocean in mayo... That's what I say. Finally, what's more rad than a baby falling out of someone at a Metallica concert? Trick question. Nothing is more metal than a baby falling out of someone at a Metallica concert. *Join the post-episode conversation over on Discord! https://discord.gg/expeUDN

Homegrown Penis: Phalloplasty - Feel Good Friday
ESometimes you just have to say oops. But then sometimes you get fired on the spot. Rightfully so because sometimes you mistake an elderly person for dead and then zip them up into a body bag and load them into a hearse. Israel opened up a Blood and Mommy Milk fortress that can withstand pretty much anything short of a meteor the size of Texas. Speaking of space… how many people have doinked in space? Nature vs Nurture is at the forefront of a recent study involving twins who were separated from their siblings and raised in a different country and different culture. Finally, one man has grown a penis on his arm and had phalloplasty. It’s a heartwarming tale, but things got a bit awkward when it turns out his mom volunteered her own arm to grow the penis on first. *Join the post-episode conversation over on Discord! https://discord.gg/expeUDN

Dr. Britt Wray is an author and researcher working at the forefront of climate change and mental health. This week the fellas chat with Britt about her new book Generation Dread and how the existential crisis of climate change is having an effect on all of our mental health. What is climate anxiety? How does it show up in our everyday life? How can we deal with it? Although this is some heavy subject matter, Britt is a beam of sunshine (but not in the “this is too much sunshine and the polar ice caps are melting" kind of way). More like the beam of sunshine on a day in the future when carbon emissions are zero and everyone is awarded free candy for life for their efforts, kind of way. What does it mean to fawn? How does it affect your life? How does it manifest between patient and practitioner? On top of all of that the gang also touches on institutionalized hierarchies, and our unhealthy cultural attitudes around death. Don't worry. We'll have Nischa on again some day soon! Brian Has COVID - Feel Good Friday
EWelp... The psychopath of the group is the first one to contract COVID. And the narcissist is convinced he's immune. This week we had to forego our FGF recording because Bri Guy is down and out. But fear not. We're going back in time (to March 13th, 2020 to be exact) to relive the moments where sh*t began hitting the fan. Before we truly knew what we were in for. It’s the end of the world as we know it. Or is it? Do we even have the rights to use that song? Anyway, Jeremie, Brian and Lauren talk COVID-19. From underestimating the effect this may have on the immunosuppressed to overstocking on toilet paper, the gang gives you an update on this rapidly evolving situation. The bottom line — it’ll be ok (boomer). Routine Checkup — With Great Things Come Great Challenges: Population Aging

Population aging (the increasing proportion of older persons in the population) is the inevitable and predictable consequence of some of humanity's greatest achievements: increasing education and employment opportunities, particularly for women and girls; enabling couples and individuals to decide the timing and spacing of their children; improving health and longevity at all ages. So how does this impact global health? And how will these changes play a role within the UN's sustainable development goals? This and much more in today's Routine Checkup.
Ep 336Today Is A Character Building Day - Huntington's Disease

What The Hellth Marathon - Feel Good Friday
ENo holds bar this week. Cats glow in the dark in order to find a treatment for AIDS. A baby was born with its mom's IUD in its hands. A woman shoved a full-sized glass tumbler up her pee hole and it lived in her bladder for 4 years whilst becoming entombed within a bladder stone... She had it removed and was completely fine. Buckle up, folks. This week is a vibe.

Uncombable Hair Syndrome - It's Real and It's Cute AF
EThe fellas have the silly willys this week. Jer has already used up his 1 out of 2 quotas for going dookie in his pants for the year. Yes folks... 34 years old and still crapping himself. Uncombable hair syndrome. It's exactly what it sounds like. Hair that just can not be tamed. But like... genetically. A con artist somehow thought it was a good idea to fake ASL interpretation on live television. A 90lbs boy with CP can deadlift more than you can. The Lucas Device will shatter your entire torso. Finally, the guys dive into some serious talk with a discussion surrounding a patient who went through with MAID however did not tell her family that she was ending her life.

Make COVID Fun Again - Feel Good Friday
EThe Matt Damons of the world really do exist. Scientists are studying why some folks out there do not contract COVID. Is it genetic? Is it a built up immunity over time? What's the secret sauce?! Some other scientists are more concerned about how LSD and Psilocybin are different experiences from one another. Spoiler alert: they aren't that different. Astronauts — prudes or pervs? Some researchers want to get down and dirty by studying the effects of bumping uglies up in space. Not surprising, but rats like to play. Happier rats lead to better experiments. Finally, one artist has 3D printed a face onto a 4,000 year old skull and it's incredible! *Join the post-episode conversation over on Discord! https://discord.gg/expeUDN

So what does one do when living a life where hearing is a massive challenge? Become a producer at an audio production studio in downtown Toronto, of course! This week Kasey walks the fellas through her journey to discover how being deaf in one ear wasn't normal and how she's navigated the world with a fraction of one of her primary senses... not that it'd hold her back in any way at all!
Daddy's Got a Brand New Set of Lungs - Feel Good Friday
EJer had his first clinic appointment since being on the miracle drug "Trikafta" and boy howdy were the results ever impressive! On a more extremely bummer note one man ends up becoming a double amputee after eating some bad noodz. The pentagon are a bunch of boomers who just don't get video games. Brian has beef with twins — especially twins that need to do everything the exact same. WHAT THE HELLTH!? The boys dive into odd phobias. Can you say Hippopotomonstrosesquippedaliophobia 5 times fast? Or once for that matter? *Join the post-episode conversation over on Discord! https://discord.gg/expeUDN

Gold Medal For Most Frozen Penis - Feel Good Friday
EWho knew the Olympics includes sports where there is a serious risk of having your penis freeze into a thick THICK c*cksicle. The moral of the story is: don't go outside when it's cold. Not worth it. Multiple paralyzed folks who had their spinal cords severed are now able to walk due to a technological breakthrough! Drugs that make you poop may also make you more clear. Clear mind & clear bowels. What happens when health tech becomes obsolete?! Unfortunately for some, it comes at a massively devastating cost. Finally in this week's edition of WHAT THE HELLTH!? Zombie Parasites. They are real. And you likely are infected with one.
Routine Checkup: Not All Heroes Wear Capes — Paramedicine
EAndrew is a paramedic with British Columbia Emergency Health Services. On top of all of that he's a Sickboy Patron (NBD). Andrew joins the fellas to break down the world of paramedicine and paramedic organizations. Like, how they offer services far beyond hospital transport including; community Paramedicine (exactly what he's researching), in-home treatment, clinical pathway treatment to clinics, and bypass to definitive care centers to best serve patient care needs in addition to traditional pre-hospital emergency care. Andrew is an absolute gem and we're grateful to know him and know that he's out there making a difference in the world.
Ep 331Precipitous Labour or How Not to Have Your Baby on the Toilet
EJenn (they/them) has given birth to two beautiful little kiddos. But their pregnancy was not your "typical" ordeal. Usually, labour ranges from 6 to 18 hours from the very early stage until birth. Precipitous labour (also known as rapid labour) is anything quicker than that. And for Jenn we're talkin Fast and Furious 10 quick. The first birth was around 2 hours. The second, was much MUCH quicker than that. Most folks hope for a quick and easy labor, but precipitous labour may be too fast and can lead to health concerns for both parent and baby. Especially when that baby falls out while you're just sitting on the toilet.
Good Night, Sleep Tight, Don't Let The Lady Bugs Crawl Up Into Your Colon - Feel Good Friday
ETime for our bi-monthly bidet discussion. Taylor is sold. We start this week with some completely irrelevant cuteness from one sweet little powdersaurus to get the feels going. Cancer vaccine! Sounds like something out of a utopian science fiction film, but think again! We discuss the story of one man who thought he had a hernia but found out that in fact, he had a hidden uterus, cervix, fallopian tubes, and an ovary! Then onto some "beautiful anatomy" — a f*cking gigantic blood clot in the shape of a bronchial tree. We spend FAR too long exploring the world of online medical equipment shopping. Turns out you can buy a circumcision tool for $18.99 on Alibaba if you buy 1000 or more. Snip snip. Finally, this week's edition of What The Health?! Lady Bugs. They are cute until they are found living inside your colon. *Join the post-episode conversation over on Discord! https://discord.gg/expeUDN

Dr. Chris Honey, an accomplished neurosurgeon at Vancouver General Hospital, weaves his personal journey together with case studies that reflect the thrill of scientific discovery and the limitations of medicine. Operating on a terminally ill child amid an Ebola outbreak in Liberia, he questions his preconceptions about what it means to "win" against a disease and how an unusual friendship with a former patient alters his perspective on clinical detachment, and what "quality of life" really means. The Tenth Nerve is available as an e-book, audio book, and hardcover https://www.penguinrandomhouse.ca/books/688025/the-tenth-nerve-by-dr-chris-honey/9781039001190

E2022 Energy - We start this week's episode with one of the wildest pieces of listener mail we've ever received! It's not every day you hear someone explaining how you've saved them from a cult. Ingrown hairs are weird, fascinating and ouchie as heck. Doctors in Canada have been given permission to give out a revolutionary new prescription! A weekly dose of mother nature. Does everything smell like sh*t? For some COVID patients, that is a reality and that's brutal. How many people do you know who have died from sex? Statistically, you might know at least one. That's a big might. But a might none the less. This week's WHAT THE HELLTH is all about how Hydrophobia is horrifying! We've always known rabies is scary as heck but who knew that it made you literally terrified of water?!

Ep 329Far More Complex Than Simple Hyperactivity: ADHD
ECaroline is a 26-year-old, soon-to-be kindergarten teacher from Germany. However, leading up to this point in her life it's been an absolute ""sh*tshow""! ADHD has had an incredible impact on Caroline's life. One of the hardest parts is how trivial the term ADHD has become and the stereotypes it has developed. This week Caroline shares her fascinating story of mental health and how it has had a profound effect on her life. From struggling to find a diagnosis, to attempting to admit herself to a BPD clinic and much more! *Join the post-episode conversation over on Discord! https://discord.gg/expeUDN
Who Doesn't Have A Gag Reflex?! - Feel Good Friday
ETaylor is giving off some strong Jacob Black vibes. Very hairy. Very smelly. The fellas talk about the most gruesome thing they've learned about emergency medicine. Intraosseous infusion. Turns out some docs are so badass they will just do it on themselves in front of a group of students and not flinch one bit. Autcraft is a Minecraft community for adolescents living with autism! A lovely place to build community. Literally and figuratively. Doing a rapid test? Be sure to gag yourself with it first before tickling your brain. Could CBD be the cure to COVID?! Pump the breaks Cheech — still, some studies needed before we know for sure. Then on this week's segment of Jeremie's favorite conspiracy theories, the guys dig into Havana Syndrome. The CIA has publicly stated that they do not think it is the doings of a foreign adversary... Sure, CIA. Just like y'all aren't using your patented heart attack assassination gun anymore, right? *Join the post-episode conversation over on Discord! https://discord.gg/expeUDN
