For the first time in living memory, a team chose to use Wet tires in a grand prix. It was an amazing 10 laps to start the race for Haas, but then things came crashing down around them. Russell started on pole but could only salvage P3 after a couple of safety cars. Verstappen never looked like the fastest car/driver this weekend, and yet somehow finds a way to win. Hulk gets a multi-year deal to join Sauber (soon to be Audi) starting in 2025 which opens his seat at Haas for the open arms of [likely] Oliver Bearman. But shortly after being hit with that news, we find out that Adrian Newey, CTO at Red Bull and responsible for decades of F1 success with multiple teams, has announced his intentions to leave the team - with an announcement to be made as soon as this week!? CHAOS! Max Verstappen retires on lap 3 and the dominoes continue to fall. Be glad we stayed up late and watched the best race of 2024 so far. Carlos Sainz pulls off a post-surgery victory and Tom compares him to being the "Eli Manning to Verstappen's Tom Brady."
