S1 Ep 100100: My Journey to Building FEA

Welcome to the 100th episode of the She Means Business Show! Woohoo! When I pressed publish on that first episode back in January of 2017, I had so many ideas about what I wanted this podcast to be like. I wanted to interview successful female entrepreneurs and inspire others to start their own wildly successful businesses with amazing tips, inspiring stories and meaningful conversations. From that very first episode, the podcast has now grown to over 610,000 downloads, countless success stories and so much inspiration for so many women around the world who are walking in the direction of their dreams! To mark this special 100th episode occasion, we're doing something completely different! Team FEA had a fun idea to put together a collection of clips and videos going all the way back to 2011, when I first started FEA - I haven't seen these clips yet and what you're going to watch (or listen to) is my first-time reaction! I'm so excited to take a trip down memory lane with you and to show you that we all just start off with a dream and an idea… no flashy videography, no huge audiences, no clue how to make it happen! But with determination - it's absolutely incredible what we can achieve! Let's dive into this together! Carrie xx

S1 Ep 9999: Make The Decision To Live An Epic Life

Every single one of us has the ability to live the most epic, abundant and successful life. So why is it that in reality, most people never go on to experience that? Far from living their best life, so many people find themselves so stuck. This is what we talked about and made breakthroughs on last week in the Package Your Brilliance challenge I hosted with the amazing Gina DeVee. The challenge was about how you can take your ideas, knowledge and passion and turn them into offers and packages that your ideal clients will love to buy, so that you can build a successful business doing something you love. At the beginning of the challenge, so many of the women who took part felt like they didn't deserve to live an epic life - and I know that this limiting belief is so common. I was so inspired by the transformations we saw during the challenge that in this episode, I wanted to talk to you about: The reason why so many people don't believe that they deserve to live an epic life. The excuses we all tell ourselves that keep us playing small and hold us back from creating success. How I kept myself stuck for years going round in circles and the realisation I had that changed everything. The new decisions I made and the challenge I created for myself that transformed my life and my business. A simple exercise you can do today to help you condition your mind to create success. Mantras to help you create more abundance and clarity in your life. If you loved this episode and you know you're meant to create a successful business and live that epic life, I'm collaborating with the incredible Gina DeVee on a transformational program called Perfectly Packaged. In this amazing episode of the She Means Business Show, I'm joined by my good friend Brandon Lucero! Brandon's expertise when it comes to creating scroll-stopping content is incredible and this episode is a value-bomb of some of his best content tips and strategies. How to avoid becoming the "unheard entrepreneur" that gets lost in the noise and the competition. S1 Ep 9393: You Don't Need Qualifications to Build a Business

Over the past few years of working with thousands of female entrepreneurs I've noticed something that holds back so many people with amazing ideas: feeling like they need a specific qualification to start the business they dream of. If this sounds familiar, I want you to know that I understand exactly how you feel. Before I started FEA, I sat on the idea for 3 whole years because I kept thinking to myself, "Who am I to create this?!" and "Who will take me seriously if I have no business qualifications!". I wasted so much time hanging on to this false belief before I finally plucked up the courage to get out of my own way and take the leap anyway. I don't want that to happen to you! I want you to recognize that you don't need a qualification to share your experiences, your skills, talents, passion and expertise. So in this episode I want to share with you: What I DID have instead of a qualification, that was so much more important to help me build my business. How my friend Allie Casazza built a hugely successful 7-figure business with no qualifications (You can listen to that episode right here). The impostor syndrome I felt while writing my first book (and how this fear came up again now that I'm thinking of writing a 2nd book!). Why your experiences and skills are just as valid as any qualification and how to use them to create a valuable offer. My best tips to help you build your confidence and go for your dreams if not having a qualification has been holding you back. If you've been holding yourself back from going after your dreams because you don't have a specific qualification, we've created a fun "You've Got This" certificate you can download by clicking right here! - https://drive.google.com/file/d/1blmgj-uyhuUxTP5SEfPCCipnpmBFFWCY/view?usp=sharing And if you'd like more support with starting your business, I've got just the thing to help you: a new course I'm creating called Create & Sell! S1 Ep 9292: Building a Business IS HARD - But You CAN DO IT

Hard work is part of the entrepreneurial journey and it's crazy to think that it isn't. I was recently having a conversation with a friend about how so many people online seem to portray that building a business should be easy and that it doesn't require too much hard work. Part of me gets really angry with this because it puts out a false message to those who are at the beginning of their entrepreneurial journey. It makes so many people feel that if they are struggling and working really hard, it means that something must be wrong. But it takes hard work, discipline and dedication to achieve amazing results in absolutely anything in life! I feel like it's so important to talk about this because when I realised that it's ok to struggle, that this was going to be hard work - I finally gave myself permission to stop thinking I wasn't doing it right by working so hard. So in this episode I chat to you about: Why it might look easy and effortless for other people (but in fact no one has it all figured out!) The mindset breakthrough I had when I accepted that building a business was going to be really hard work (and how to have that same breakthrough) My favourite tips for overcoming the struggle and pushing through to create success when it all feels like too much. If we want to be good at anything in life, excel and create success - there's always going to be a level of work, dedication and practice that has to go into it. What are your thoughts on this? I'd love to know! Share with us in the comments below your experience with overcoming struggle and comparing yourself to other business owners. And if you want more support with turning your dreams and ideas into a wildly successful business, make sure you become an FEA Insider! S1 Ep 9191: Creating Success By Being Authentically You

"There's no such thing as a unique message, only unique messengers". I heard the amazing Jadah Sellner say this quote in a masterclass she created for our Members' Club a few months ago and it really stuck with me. As business owners, entrepreneurs and people with lots of big ideas that we want to turn into successful businesses - we are in fact messengers. Our stories, personalities and experiences make us who we truly are and shape our unique message. But so often we feel like we need to emulate successful people we admire, or that we're not "interesting enough" to be ourselves. So we end up listening to everyone else's ideas and putting messages out there that are generic, inauthentic and really don't connect with our audiences. And then our message doesn't convert into sales, customers and raving fans. #sofrustrating I know this is something so many entrepreneurs struggle with, so in this episode I share with you: My own struggle with being myself when I first started FEA (and how I felt like I had to be serious and professional...which really didn't fit my personality!). How I discovered who I wanted to be to my audience and found my authentic voice. Why it's so important to make business decisions based on your own intuition (rather than always following everyone else's ideas, advice and style). My 3 best tips to help you get back to who you truly are if you've been feeling a little lost. I hope this episode helps you to see that the more we can embrace who we truly are and the more we can infuse that into our business, the more success we can create.

S1 Ep 9090: Why We All Need To Create A Crappy First Draft

One of my favourite quotes has always been "Don't compare your Chapter 1 to someone else's Chapter 20". And being a few chapters into my entrepreneurial journey now, I see so many people get stuck on their own Chapter 1 because they're too scared to create a crappy first draft of their work. When it comes to our business, so many of us expect perfection from the very beginning. But you wouldn't expect to sit at a piano and play like Chopin from day 1! So why do we put this kind of pressure on ourselves and hold ourselves back from becoming creators, even if it's messy to begin with? A few days ago I came across a box full of things I had created in the really early days when I first started FEA and it really took me back to that time. I wanted to share what I found in these boxes with you because so many times, when we scroll through social media, listen to podcasts or watch videos online, we base our comparison on those carefully selected highlight reels. But we rarely get to see the journey that got people there, or the struggles behind the scenes. So in this episode I share with you: The crappy first draft I ever created of my now bestselling book, She Means Business (I had no idea what I was doing and none of the content ever even made it into the actual book!). The first inspirational quote wall prints I ever created for myself. The one thing that keeps most entrepreneurs stuck in ideas mode (and how to get out of it!) How to dive into the creation process (even if it's really crappy to begin with!). How to move on and improve from that crappy first draft. A journal entry I wrote years ago, which eventually made it into my book. I hope this episode serves to show you that everyone starts out from Chapter 1. No one has it all figured out from the get-go, so don't pressure yourself into the pursuit of perfection, just become the creator!

S1 Ep 8889: The Decisions That Will Change Your Life

Back in 2011 I made a decision that completely changed my life. Since making that decision and building the Female Entrepreneur Association, I've become obsessed with understanding what makes some people achieve huge success while others stay stuck when it comes to turning their ideas into a successful business. I've come to realise that one of the biggest reasons they stay stuck is because they never truly make the decision to commit and go all in. They teeter on the edge but never really take the leap to allow success to flow into their life. The good news is that opening ourselves to the opportunities and abundance that are available to all of us is a choice we can all make! And it all starts with that decision. So in this episode I want to share with you: The decision I made back in 2011 that changed my life and business (and why this is the essential first step we all need to take to create success). Why making that decision changes absolutely everything (and what you can expect to see when you go all in). The one thing I always do to push through the resistance that comes up whenever I make a new decision. How we can all become intentional creators of our lives (and attract the abundance we deserve). After you dive into the episode, drop me a comment below and let me know: what's one big decision you know you need to make right now to bring your vision to life? I hope you absolutely love this episode and If you'd like to dive deeper into this topic, make sure you check out our other episodes of the She Means Business Show right here >>>

S1 Ep 8888: It's Time to Take Action

In this episode of the She Means Business Show, I am talking with the amazing Heather Chauvin. Heather was diagnosed with stage 4 cancer when she was just 27 years old. This traumatic change in circumstances forced Heather to drastically reevaluate her situation. She started to listen to "the knowing" inside of her, which was telling her what she needed and what she needed to do in order to become the person she knew she was meant to be. In her own words, the universe "finally had my attention". In this episode, Heather tells us all about her experience, and how it forced her to shift from a state of learning to a state of doing; to stop simply consuming self-development content and to start acting on it. I hope you love this episode, and if you want to learn more about Heather's story, head over to femaleentrepreneurassociation.com/heather . Carrie :) xx

S1 Ep 8686: Unbecoming

In this episode I share with you: The lies I kept telling myself that stopped me from pursuing my idea to create FEA for 3 whole years, and the realisation I had that then changed everything. Why "unbecoming" is such an important first step to creating success. The questions you really need to ask yourself to get clear on what's holding you back from making your dreams happen and stopping abundance from flowing into your life. The kind of empowering thoughts and mantras we all need to tell ourselves on a daily basis to elevate our lives.

S1 Ep 8585: Making Your First Million

There are a number of key things that I learned in my journey to making my first million, and I wanted to share those with you. So many of us have this goal to reach a million $ in revenue and this is a dream that I shared a few years ago. I want to take you back to 2009... That year I created this challenge for myself called "Mission To Make A Million in 365 days". I was completely set on this idea that I was going to figure out how I was going to make a million in 365 days. I created a website and I was going to document it and share my journey. I ended up completely falling off the bandwagon with this challenge. It was only when 2011 came around, and I recalibrated my goals to what I called my "Mission: Success Challenge" that I actually began to make progress towards that first million. And it took a fundamental mindset shift to get me there. So in this episode, I'm going to tell you all about my journey, how I achieved that mindset shift and impart my best advice for how you can do the same. I hope you love it :) xx

When I started my business I knew that if I could build an audience of people who absolutely loved what I was doing and found value in it, then I could make it a success. For the first 2 years, I threw myself into building my email list and growing a following on social media - I wanted to grow a community of raving fans who loved FEA and what it was all about. I've since built an email list of over 150,000 subscribers, which has completely changed my business! But like everyone else, I started from zero! I know how frustrating it can feel when you're starting from square one, but I also know that this kind of success is possible for every single one of us! S1 Ep 8282: How to Become Unstoppable

It's one thing to have an idea or a dream of starting a business... but it's something completely different to have the courage to turn that dream into a successful and profitable business that you love. The truth is that we all experience resistance when we have an idea to try something new. And it's not just something we struggle with at the beginning... I've experienced periods of this struggle throughout my entire entrepreneurial journey - whenever I come up with a new idea or have a new dream to get to another level, that resistance creeps back in and gets in my way! As entrepreneurs, we need to become masters of overcoming resistance, even when it feels like there's no option but to stay stuck. So in this episode, I wanted to share with you my 5 top tips for doing exactly this. These are the powerful strategies I always turn to whenever doubts, fears and worries flood my brain and cloud my willingness to keep pushing through. I'm sharing with you: Why it took me 3 years from coming up with the idea for the Female Entrepreneur Association to actually launching it. The most common resistance we all face when it comes to putting ourselves and our ideas out there and the #1 thing we need to do to overcome this. The self-coaching exercise I use every time resistance comes up that helps me uncover the truth behind what's really going on in my head. How to rewire your brain and flood yourself with positivity and motivation. How to tap into the foresight of your future self to guide the decisions you make today. How to stop letting everyday distractions hold you back. How to manifest more of what you want into your life If you're dreaming of taking your life or your business to the next level right now, but you're feeling weighed down by resistance - I know that these powerful strategies will help you break through to the other side.

S1 Ep 8181: How To Build A Successful Business By Growing A Tribe Of Super Fans

Before 2015, Allie Casazza was an overwhelmed mum of 4, battling to get through every day, counting the minutes till bedtime and dreading having to start all over again the next morning. The advice she was getting that "you'll just get through it" just wasn't t the way Allie wanted to show up in her life and her motherhood. Allie says that one day she stood in her driveway in the mountains of Arkansas, hating her life and struggling to make ends meet and just chose to step into a different energy. She decided what was going to happen in her life and believed with certainty that success was hers for the taking. Since then Allie has built a multiple 7-figure business and she's even had a $70,000 day selling a $99 product! Allie is the host of The Purpose Show podcast, which has over 6 million downloads and also runs a Facebook Group of over 50,000 highly engaged women! The main thing that Allie says has helped her achieve huge success in her business has been her ability to grow an engaged community of super fans who absolutely love what she does. S1 Ep 8080: No One Starts at Perfection

With everything that's going on in the world right now, creating a membership site for your audience means that you can grow a stable and successful business that generates recurring revenue. But regardless whether it's a membership site, a course or an e-commerce website, the majority of people never even get their idea off the ground. So many of us are guilty of this: we get into our own heads and we get hung up about having tons of content and everything looking "perfect" before we even try to share our idea with the world. It's the difference between those who stay stuck and those who go on to create successful businesses: success comes from finding the courage to launch way before you have it all figured out! This happens because we compare our chapter one to someone else's chapter 20, so in this episode I wanted to give you a look at my own chapter one. I want to take you back in time and show you how much I really didn't have things figured out when I first launched the Members' Club and how far it was from perfection! I hope this episode shows you that if you have an idea or a desire to create success, then you have to find the courage to just go for it, before you even feel ready to take the leap! S1 Ep 7979: Launching Successfully To A Small Audience: How Michelle Made $16K In 2 Weeks

One of the biggest misconceptions about having a successful launch is that you need a huge audience of thousands of email subscribers and social media followers. But this couldn't be further from the truth! Making 5 or even 6 figures in your next launch depends a lot more on the quality and engagement of your audience than it does on the number of followers you have. My amazing friend Michelle is proof of this, having scaled her business to six figures over the past few years with a small audience and no paid ads. S1 Ep 7575: How to Keep Going Through the Struggles and Create Success

Recently I got to do something I've been wanting to do for a really long time… interview my dad! He's been my biggest business inspiration and the person who's had the most impact on helping me to create the success I have. I turn to him for business advice all the time, especially when I'm facing challenges or uncertainty. So I asked him if he'd come and share his words of wisdom with you… and it's turned out to be the MOST inspiring interview I've ever done! I've never known anyone to work as hard as my dad and I've never known anyone to have as much grit and determination as him. He has the ability to keep going, even when things seem impossible and he's constantly learning new things to help him create success – from cosmic ordering, to daily meditation and his favourite mindset books – we talk about so much. I hope this leaves you feeling so fired up and uplifted! Leave me a comment and let me know what your biggest takeaway is. Carrie xx

S1 Ep 7474: How to Stay Positive During Really Uncertain Times

We're facing some crazy things in the world right now that are leading to a lot of uncertainty, fear and challenges. So I really wanted to do something for this amazing community to help us all during this time. I had a good think about what I do when I'm struggling with uncertainty, challenges and fear and I realised that I turn to some incredible people to help me through. So I reached out to these people and asked if they would be up for doing a Facebook live with me to share their amazing wisdom with you. This is the first of 5 Facebook Lives and it's with my husband, Kelin. He's the first person I turn to when I'm feeling uncertain or full of fear, so I thought it would be fun to chat with him and share how we stay positive together. This Facebook Live was inside our Members' Club private Facebook group, but I really wanted to share it with you too. In it we talked about: Specific things we do together to stay positive How we get intentional about creating a happy and positive vibe at home I share questions from a workbook I made for us to fill out when we got married to help us build a solid relationship And how we're coping working from home with Kasey, our one-year-old! (We had to ply Kasey with treats and Peppa Pig to keep in quiet as we went live haha. Obviously, he still wanted to be heard and at the end he makes a very cute appearance!) I don't normally do such personal videos and interviews, but given the nature of everything going on right now, we're all feeling the impacts of it on a deeply personal level. There's so much emotion and it's such a testing time that I wanted to get personal about how I'm dealing with it. Enjoy and stay safe. With love, Carrie xx

S1 Ep 7272: Develop A Growth Mindset In 5 Simple But Powerful Steps

We all go through periods where we feel completely stuck in a rut and it can feel so frustrating when you just can't seem to move forward. Finding powerful ways to shift myself into a growth mindset has been one of the most important things I've ever done that has completely transformed my life. From 2008 all the way through to 2011 I was stuck in a massive rut, feeling completely lost as to where I wanted my life to go. I had this feeling deep down inside that I wasn't living the life I was meant to be living. I felt like I was playing small, like there was so much more meant for me. I just wasn't living up to my potential and if you've ever felt like that, you know how annoying it can be. If you want help, guidance and support to achieve a big goal this March, make sure you join our free Mission For March challenge, where we'll be working together to take the action we need to take to make a big goal happen! Click below to sign up and get your free workbook! THE TURNING POINT I knew that things needed to change and in 2011, I got to a point where I was completely fed up with my own excuses and I finally decided to do something about it. I realised that I was the problem and that my own mindset was the only reason that I was feeling so stuck. I knew I was also the only person that could get myself out of it. I had to change who I was being, the thoughts I was thinking, the way I was showing up every day and the habits I was practicing. So I did some simple things that had a really profound impact and since then, I've been repeating these same steps and they've worked for me every time, so I know they can do the same for you.

S1 Ep 6767: Shifting Your Mindset to Achieve Your Business Goals

One of the biggest reasons that many entrepreneurs struggle to build the business they want is because they're not in the right mindset to create success. It's that simple and for such a long time I was that person and it was so frustrating. One day I decided that I really needed to have a mindset shift and when I did this, it literally changed my entire life. So in this post, we'll be going through four simple steps to help you have that mindset shift that will help you build a wildly successful business. These strategies have really helped me shift my mindset and have been crucial in helping me achieve some of the biggest goals I had on my vision board. Step 1: Create awareness around where you're at right now. Any sort of change starts with awareness and clarity, so this is all about getting clear about where you're at and what your mindset is like right now. There's a powerful intuitive journaling exercise that I love to do that really helps me create awareness around what's going on in my life and how i'm feeling right now. Take some time somewhere quiet with a pen and a piece of paper and give yourself permission to tune in with yourself and write about what you're feeling and what's going on internally. I love the question, "How am I feeling right now and what's my mindset like?" Just start writing without filtering or thinking too much. Allow the words to flow out on paper and don't really think as you go and create awareness around what you're currently thinking: the good, the bad and the ugly. This is all about being really honest with yourself. Step 2: Take a look at what shifts you need to make. As part of the intuitive journaling exercise, write down what your biggest struggle is right now, what your biggest mindset challenge is right. For example, maybe you've realised that you've got this deep-seated feeling that you're not good enough. Maybe you're stuck because you feel embarrassed to put your idea out there and you're scared of being judged. Whatever is bubbling to the surface for you in terms of a mindset block, a doubt, worry or fear, focus on that and ask yourself "Why do I feel like this?" and write that down. Keep asking yourself to peel back the layers and to get to the root of the problem and what's really going on. You need to figure out why you're feeling the way you are so that you can do something about it. So often we think our feelings are the problem, but when you do an exercise like this, it often brings up issues you didn't even realise were affecting you that are often the real problem. It could be something that happened 3 years ago that you didn't even realise is having a huge impact on how you're actually feeling and the mindset you're keeping today. Doing this exercise helps you uncover what is really going on. Kee asking "but why" to dig deeper and deeper so that you can uncover why you're feeling the way you're feeling or why you have a certain fear, doubt, worry or challenge that you're facing at the moment. Step #3: Discover the shifts you need to make.

S1 Ep 6666: Making A Living By Making An Impact with Caroline Vickery-Clark - Success Stories

Caroline's earliest memories are of her mum and dad sitting around the table talking business, so already from a young age, she knew she wanted to pursue business and that this was the right path for her. After quitting a university course that just wasn't right for her, Caroline threw herself into her mum's card and gift shop, where she managed the business and worked with other local entrepreneurs to introduce initiatives in her town to help high street businesses. From working in the corporate world to growing two brick-and-mortar businesses, Caroline joined the Members' Club and couldn't get rid of this niggling feeling that she wanted to start an online business that would help decipher marketing for other small business owners. This led her to set up Golden Treasure Business Consultancy, which helps entrepreneurs in early stages understand what marketing is, how to stand out and get their voice heard. In this podcast, Caroline and I discuss: Her journey from following her parent's lead into business and setting up multiple successful businesses to focusing on what she does best and making an impact. How a local council initiative put her in the lead and helped her discover her passion for helping small business owners. How an unexpected, last-minute talk she had to give landed her the first client for her consultancy business. The biggest challenges she has faced and the scariest parts of becoming the face of her new marketing brand and sharing her story. How she's managing to juggle motherhood alongside running two businesses and how she divides work and family time. Her goals for growing the business and taking it to the next level and the importance she's putting on the impact aspect. How she's using the feedback she's gathering from her audience and from Facebook Groups such as the Members' Club to build her online course module after module. All about learning to be flexible, improving and pivoting as you go along and not letting challenges defeat you. Caroline's top tip for success is: Don't try and be everywhere, on every platform, and don't forget the offline world. We all spend so much time online that we often forget what else is out there and the offline marketing strategies we can put to good use. S1 Ep 6565: The Power Of The Small Email List

Tip #1: Make it easy on yourself I remember when someone told me at the very beginning of my business journey that I needed to build an email list. I had no idea what that even meant or where to start! It felt so overwhelming and made me feel paralyzed because it seemed like there was so much to do. In the end, I just made it easy for myself and started off with a really simple form on my website to attract subscribers. I didn't even have an email service provider at this point! I was just copying and pasting addresses into my own personal email and then emailing people whenever I thought I needed to. After a while I discovered Mailchimp and from there I began to build an email list using a pop-up on my website that simply said "Sign up to receive a weekly dose of inspiration from me". That was it! The number one most important step you can take is to get started, so don't let anything hold you back! Just get started in the simplest way possible and then build and improve from there. Tip #2: Get clear on what you're going to be emailing to your list Once you're all set up to attract subscribers, the next step is to get clear on exactly what you'll be emailing them on a weekly basis. What types of emails will you send to your list to nurture those relationships and provide value? Create a simple plan of what you could send out every week and remember that it doesn't have to be some complicated piece of content, like a video, podcast or a really long blog. You could simply send out a tip, an inspirational quote, a piece of advice or a story you can share that somehow provides value. Once again, keeping things simple plays a huge part in rapidly creating success and then building on that. Make this doable or you likely won't do it consistently. Tip #3: Tell people about your email list! People actually need to know about your email list in order to want to join it! Start out with a goal of getting 100 people on your list, even if this includes all of your family, friends and people who are not likely to be your customers. Knowing that people are actually receiving and reading your emails, maybe even replying, is a hugely powerful mindset shift and builds momentum. Remember to just take it step by step We all have to start out with a goal of getting our first 10 subscribers and then our first 100 and then 200 after that and so on. So many of us never start because we're on step one and we get frustrated that we're not on step ten. Make it as simple as possible for yourself, stay consistent, be patient and go through each step as it comes along and before you know it, you will have built a list of thousands of subscribers, potential customers and one of the most powerful and profitable assets for your business. If you want more help building your email list from zero or you have an existing list and you'd love to skyrocket your momentum and growth, then you definitely need to check out Amy Porterfield's amazing masterclass for the Members' Club! Her goals, plans and dreams for the next few years and what she's focusing on right now to make it all happen. The importance of having clarity around your business strategy before diving in. The biggest challenges she has had to overcome throughout her entrepreneurial journey. Once you have your strategy in place, make sure that you're regularly checking in on the results so that you can keep doing what's working and eliminating what isn't. S1 Ep 6363: Building a Membership to 5,000+ Super Fans!

Try our Start and Grow Membership Course and build an incredibly successful membership site of your own! https://femaleentrepreneurassociation.com/start-and-grow/ You've seen me and so many other experts out there going on and on about the power of membership sites, and that's because developing a membership program really is transformational for your business and brand. If you've been growing your audience for a while, maybe selling products or services to them, and you're wondering whether a membership community is what your audience needs, then this episode will give you a whole new perspective on the power of building a membership program. So in this post, I want to share with you the 2 things that should sway your decision if you've been unsure if you should build a membership site for your audience. Lesson 1: Recurring revenue means peace of mind and financial freedom! So many entrepreneurs take the leap from earning a steady income through a 9-5 job into the "uncertain income" that comes with building your own business. When you're jumping from month to month, constantly worrying about generating enough leads, converting customers and making that next $1, it feels like an exhausting, emotional rollercoaster. Just think about how many of the things we buy into nowadays come in the form of monthly subscriptions. From tv, music and data storage to food, vitamins and beauty products. Companies are falling over themselves to switch over to a recurring revenue model because it brings certainty, stability and scalability. If you'd love to have a really clear idea of how much revenue your business will generate this month, next month and the month after that, building a recurring revenue model (such as a membership site) is absolutely the way to go! Just think...how transformational would it be if you had… 100 members paying you $37 per month and generating $3,700 in recurring revenue? 350 members paying you $37 per month and generating $12,950 in recurring revenue? 5,000 members paying you $37 per month and generating $185,000 per month in recurring revenue? Lesson 2: Building a membership means building a community of super fans The essential foundation to build and grow absolutely any type of successful business is to build an audience that loves what your business is all about. We all know the essentials of building an audience… growing an email list, finding followers on social media, driving traffic to the website, networking and collaborating. But what's even more powerful is building a community of SUPER FANS. Super fans are on a completely different level to subscribers on your email list or your followers on social media. These are the people that are most likely to be the first to take you up on your offers when you release new products, the first to leave you a review, the people who will go and tell everyone they know about what you're doing. They will support you and cheer you on every step of the way. Super fans know for sure that you can help them and believe in what you're about. A membership is a space for you to cultivate and nurture your super fans. It is a place where people can truly belong to your community and get to connect with you (and your other super fans) on a much deeper level. S1 Ep 6262: Building A Business To Live Life On Your Own Terms with Vicki Nicolson - Success Stories

After a career in corporate PR, visual communication and branding, Vicki decided to use her expertise to build her own business and live life on her own terms. She joins me in this episode of the She Means Business podcast to tell me all about her entrepreneurial journey and what being a member of the Members' Club has done for her business. Vicki is now a branding designer for female entrepreneurs, corporations and retail businesses, helping them build a great presence, increase visibility and improve consistency so that they can fascinate and captivate their audiences. Vicki says she felt a little bit lost when she first made the transition from corporate to entrepreneurship and that's why she joined the Members' Club, to understand what she needed to do to step up her game. Joining was, in her words, "game changing". She says surrounding herself with the right type of people was an essential part of her success. In this podcast, Vicki and I discuss: The day that made her decide to take the leap from the corporate world into entrepreneurship. How she felt making that transition, the challenges she faced and the transformations she experienced throughout her journey. The importance of surrounding yourself with like-minded individuals as a solopreneur, joining communities and groups. The flexibility she found running her own business. The importance of the mindset shifts she made throughout her entrepreneurial journey. How she finds a lot of her clients and collaboration opportunities through the Members' Club community. S1 Ep 6161: How to Create a Compelling Brand For Your Business

Creating a compelling brand is so important for developing the story of your business and, ultimately, winning customers. But there's more to it than simply choosing your fonts, colour palette and art style. Here is my breakdown of the questions you need to ask yourself and the actions you need to take in order to develop a successful, compelling and incredible business brand: 1 - The brand is the personality, the heart and soul, the feeling of what a company is. 2 - If you position your brand's values clearly, it creates a platform for customers to identify with. 3 - Ask yourself what values you actually want to infuse into the essence of your business. 4 - Be clear with the voice of your brand; this will help customers to emote and identify with it. 5 - Ask who your audience actually are. Build a brand according to their perspective. 6 - Create avatars of your ideal customers. Who are they? How do they live? What are they like? 7 - Who is this person in relation to who your company are? How can you help to serve them?. 8 - There is no such thing as a unique message, only unique messengers. 9 - Get involved with designing; as the founder, it is your vision. 10 - If your strength is not in creative thinking, outsource the design tasks to an amazing creative. 11 - Don't compare your Chapter One to someone else's Chapter Twenty! 12 - Use tools like Canva to do a lot of the heavy lifting for you when designing. 13 - Put together a brand mood-board so your design style is consistent and in line with your voice. I hope these tips really help you to create the brand of your dreams. I know that for me, building a brand has been one of the most exciting and fun aspects of developing the Female Entrepreneur Association, and I really hope you get as much joy from the process as I did! S1 Ep 6060: Reconnecting With Your Inner Wise Woman with Haulwen Nicholas - Success Stories

There's no denying the powerful truth that we all have an intuitive, creative and incredibly capable "wise woman" within us. But in today's fast-paced world, it's so easy to lose touch with our true inner self and purpose. In this episode of the She Means Business podcast I chat to the amazing Haulwen Nicholas, as she takes me through her journey of discovery and how she built and now runs two different businesses. Haulwen is the founder of the Magical Mojo Coach, where she helps women to reconnect with their inner wise woman and find the magic and wonder in the world. Her second business is called The Packaging Oracle, where she helps big businesses and entrepreneurs make decisions about their packaging. Haulwen is a member of our Members' Club and she says that when she first joined, she found the inspiration she needed to launch her own business after burning out in the corporate world. Her favourite part of being a member has been the community, where she's made some great friends who she meets regularly. Haulwen says the Members' Club has been an essential tool for her as being an entrepreneur can be such a lonely experience. The Members' Club is that safe space where she can talk about her business with others who are on the same journey. In this podcast, Haulwen and I discuss: Her career in the packaging industry after studying Environmental Biology at University and how she saw this path as the perfect opportunity to help shape the industry to be more environmentally-friendly. How burnout, dealing with several medical conditions, chronic pain and a highly stressful job left her desperate to escape her lifestyle. How managing teams throughout her career helped her discover her love for coaching and training. How training to become a coach also ended up becoming a journey of self-discovery for her. The journey to launching her business and how she manages the struggle of running two businesses at the same time. Why she made self-care her priority and how it helped her business blossom. How reconnecting with her true self and her purpose helped her find her energy, good health and spirit again. Why reconnecting with your inner wise woman is so essential to long-term wellbeing and success. Haulwen's top tips for success are: Stay curious and recognise that the majority of things that make us who we are are free. We don't need material possessions, it's just about reconnecting with the world and people around us and loving ourselves more, which so many of us don't do. When we start reconnecting with that inner voice, we suddenly start to realise what we truly love about our lives and the people around us. Make self-care your number one priority! You need to make sure you're energised to be your best for yourself, your family and to help your business thrive! S1 Ep 5959: Working Full-Time And Building A Business On The Side with Caz Wilson - Success Stories

In this podcast, Caz and I discuss: How she comes from an entrepreneurial family and learned an entrepreneurial attitude at a young age from her mum. How she moved to the US and got an office job in Las Vegas working in corporate marketing but soon realised that it wasn't as fun as she anticipated it to be and how she realised she wasn't suited for the corporate world and she felt stifled. How Tim Ferriss' book, The 4 Hour Work Week, opened her eyes to this different way of looking at work + discovered FEA in 2017 and decided to join FEA instead of continuing to focus on her corporate career. First thing she did: she looked into her company's policy on starting a "side hustle", thought about the lifestyle she wanted, wanted flexibility, fit the lifestyle. Honed in on her marketing skill and how badly she wanted to leave. Identified why she really wanted to quit and what she needed to do to make it happen. Biggest ways FEA has helped her: seeing the community and how other women did it inspired her. The monthly calls and visualisation. How she managed her schedule building a business around her busy 9-5 and family commitments. How she visualised the feeling she would feel and the music she would play driving away from her office for the last time. How she feels looking back and having come so far and overcoming the challenges of juggling both her job and her business. How she started finding most of her clients from the FEA Members' Club. Caz's top tips for success are: You can learn any strategy, but mindset is the thing that will make or break you! Go out and make sure that your business is what your audience wants and don't wait until you have a business to start building your audience. You can start a Facebook page today! If you're networking in Facebook Groups and putting yourself out there, people will look for you online! Share what you're doing, build your audience and don't give up! S1 Ep 5858: Learning to Celebrate Your Victories

Do you ever wish that as an entrepreneur, you would get to go up on a podium, get cheered and applauded and given a medal every time you had a win in your business? Because it's never an easy journey and every single challenge you overcome and every single win is worth acknowledging and celebrating! In this episode of the She Means Business podcast I'm joined by the amazing Laura Robinson, founder of Worditude, who went from corporate job to building a successful copywriting business. Laura shares with me all about her journey, restructuring her family life to make room for her business, fulfilling her dream of taking her kids to Disneyworld and celebrating all the little "Gold Medal moments" along the way! When she first went self-employed, she started out doing by-the-hour freelance work for agencies that were all run by men and was so lonely she joined FEA. In this podcast, Laura and I chat about: Her journey from corporate jobs, into freelancing agencies and finally managing her own successful business and fulfilling her goal of taking her kids to Disneyworld. The gap in the market she identified in the copywriting industry and how she discovered a way to serve people in a more effective (and profitable) way that also made her happier. How she first got started and discovered that she had to charge more. Her struggle with feeling like other people seemed to be achieving success so much more quickly and easily than her. All the friends she made through the Members' Club and the part they have played in her life and business. How she restructured her family life to make room for her business and what her day looks like now. Her dreams and goals and how she balances between dreaming big for the future and being grateful for what she has created up to now. Her love for sport and how she celebrates and acknowledges her little wins through "Gold Medal Moments". Laura's top tips for success are: Don't panic if you feel like everything around you is going the wrong way, it's not a sign that you're failing. A lot of times if you're tired or overwhelmed, you're looking at things from the wrong perspective and you just need to take a break or talk to someone about it who understands (like your online business friends!). Don't read too much into it when you feel like "I can't do this anymore". Give yourself a break and things will seem a lot better when you come back to them with fresh eyes. S1 Ep 5757: Carrie's Tips - Creating a Goal Folder

When I was a kid growing up, my dad used to tell me, "Decide what you want and write it down", and so I created a Goal Folder! My Goal Folder became a storage space for all of my biggest dreams as a teenager. I would write down the things that I really wanted at that time, without limiting myself by what was "realistic" or "sensible", and then use cuttings and illustrations to create a physical scrapbook of what I wanted my life to look (and smell) like. I just see this as a bit of fun, but it's a bit of fun that's actually very powerful. My goals have changed a bit since creating this first goal folder, but the point is that it's all about intention-setting. You need to get really aligned with your personal and business goals; articulate them; get them out of your head and into the physical world and then use them as your North Star, so that you have something tangible to work towards. This is something that I would highly recommend doing to anyone with big dreams. This is how I would go about it: - Have a dreaming day and connect with what you want to make happen in your life. - Get proactive. Write down the things that you want. - Create an energy of success around your goal folder. - Keep coming back to your goal folder to remind yourself of the things you want to achieve. Her wildly successful has been running for 17 years and has been a multi-million dollar business for 10 of those years. She is truly an inspiration and this episode will give you a completely different perspective on things and a huge dose of gratitude! You're going to love it! In this podcast, Christine and I discuss: How she got started in the direct sales industry with the Body Shop at Home, to running a multi-million dollar direct sales business and building a community to train others in the same field. Her journey from starting out slow to creating so much success after she realised what was possible and stopped looking at it as a side-income and hobby. The biggest things she did when she started out that helped her make so much progress, including not being afraid of hearing the word "no" and getting rejected. Her ethical and collaborative approach to business and how this helped set her apart in her industry. The tragic diagnosis her daughter received a few years ago and how Christine maintained a six-figure income throughout the entire ordeal, while witnessing other parents in the same situation having to quit their job and dealing with financial disaster. How this made her realise that she wanted to share her expertise and message on a much bigger scale, make a difference to more people and establish her second business to train others. How she turned that horrible time into a positive and made the most of her time spent in the hospital, by working her way through every single masterclass in the Members' Club while sitting at her daughter's bedside. The opportunity to be noticed that she identified on Pinterest and how she grew her account and has made it her most valuable traffic source after working through the Become A Pinterest All-Star Masterclass. The importance of working on her mindset to grow her businesses, especially while her daughter Sophie was unwell, including the little things she did to stay positive and strong. Her more recent health scare and how all her mindset practices helped her get through another ordeal all over again.

S1 Ep 5555: Making Your Business Work Through The Ups And Downs with Louise Luton - Success Stories

Sometimes even a job you once loved is no longer the right fit. This is exactly what happened to Louise Luton, who, after 20 years of teaching art and drama, started struggling with the pressure she was facing and having to deal with crippling anxiety. She decided she had to make a change, and despite the common misconception that you can't make money as an artist, Louise was an artist at heart and decided she would figure out how to make it work, so she set out to build her business, Louise Luton Art. Louise started seeing a return and her business going from strength to strength within six months. She later decided she needed to uplevel her business again and that's when she read She Means Business and eventually joined the Members' Club. Saldy, the tragic loss of her father stopped her in her tracks and she went through a period where she felt she couldn't go on growing the business. This is where Louise says the community and support she received from the members of the Members' Club was indispensable, helping her realise that she was strong enough to keep going, step by step, growing the business and honouring her father through her art. In this podcast, Louise and I chat about: Her beautiful art and how she has created multiple sources of revenue through her website, art galleries and by visiting art fairs. How being a successful artist means you also have to manage the business aspect. Louise shares how she managed to make it work when she first started and the important part that the Members' Club has played in keeping her going and growing. The crisis of confidence and the mindset struggles she faced when she first started, being scared to approach galleries and charging too much for her art. The three essential aspects of her business and how she manages each one. The struggle she faced to continue working on her business after the loss of her father and how the support of other members from inside the Members' Club helped her make it through. How she adapted the traditional business plan for her own needs and how she uses the Members' Club monthly Goal Setting and Planning workshops to review and plan ahead. A recent business award she won, which has continued to increase her confidence and encourage her to grow the business further. Her exciting plans for the year ahead, including an inspirational trip to Kenya and being featured in galleries in major cities in the UK and US. Louise's top tips for success are: No matter what you're facing, remember the importance of working on your business "little and often" - accept that you can't do everything today, but you can do SOMETHING today so just keep chipping away at your idea until you get there Once your business is up and running, make sure you're reviewing your results from month to month. Identify the patterns in your own business and use them to make better decisions and create more success. When you're just starting out, focus on one social media platform rather than trying to be on multiple platforms all at once. If you have an idea you love, the timing will never be right so you just have to take the plunge and give it a try now! Join a community that can give you the support you need now - you don't have to wait until you're on top, join when you really need the help!

S1 Ep 5353: The Power Of Relentless Perseverance with Kc Rossi - Success Stories

If you've gone from business idea to business idea and still struggling to make it work, then this podcast episode will give you all the motivation you need to hang in there and keep persevering. In it I chat with Kc Rossi, one of our amazing FEA members, who worked her way through an incredible nine different business ideas in four years, only for the 10th idea to finally take off! Kc is a business coach who helps female entrepreneurs (mostly in the Holistic field) create online courses so they can have a bigger impact and make more income, as well as building a business around their life so they can avoid burning out. She started her entrepreneurial journey at just 19 years old, when, along with her business partner, she tried everything from jewellery to house painting. After almost giving up, she decided to give it one final go, starting a handmade confections company, which took off and grew beyond her wildest dreams to hit seven figures. Kc joined the FEA Members' Club in order to be part of an engaging community of thriving women who truly support one another. She says she has made amazing connections and loves using the accountability partner feature to meet women with the same mindset, that get as excited as her when it comes to chatting about conversion rates and lead magnets! Sold it in 2011 and she started looking at other businesses in interests she likes. She became a certified aromatherapist and a certification for mind-body eating. In those realms she noticed that there were wonderful people that were going from a corporate job into a passion project. They would graduate from these certification courses without any business skills and land into a "now what?" phase. In this podcast, Kc and I discuss: Her journey through nine different business ideas before she managed to make the 10th one work and what happened when it all took off. The importance of giving your ideas and projects time to grow and gain momentum. How she found a gap in the market for her next idea after selling her first successful company, that revolved around her passion. The fear she had to deal with when transitioning from being behind the scenes of a brand and part of a partnership to being the solo face of her business. How this helped her break out of her shell and drop the "introvert" label, which she had hidden behind for so long. Kc shares the personal and spiritual work she had to do to get out of her own way and how she dealt with the fear of "Going Live" every day. Overcoming that internal tug-of-war when you discover your potential but can't seem to do anything about it and you're standing in your own way. How struggle is simply an inevitable part of the process for most solopreneurs and how it helps us develop empathy, clarity and gratitude. One of her biggest wins with recently landing a dream client. How to respect the hustle at the beginning of building a business and the need to then look at ways of reducing the workload to avoid burning out. S1 Ep 5252: Creating a Mantra for the Year!

The New Year is nearly here, and one of the things I most love to do before I start a new year is to create a mantra for the year! It's so helpful to have a go-to saying for the year that you can keep coming back to when things get difficult and you're struggling to remember the purpose behind what you're doing. The idea is to centre your thoughts around one phrase that can help you to keep pushing forward in order to create the success that you want over the course of the year, but it can also just be a lot of fun to play around with creating your own mantra! I'd really encourage you to give this a go yourself - think about what's been most bothering you or holding you back in 2019 and have a go at creating a mantra in response to that problem. And if you're struggling with the exact wording, feel free to pinch one of the mantras that I've given here! S1 Ep 5151: How To Build The Lifestyle Business Of Your Dreams with Sophie Le Brozec - Success Stories

If you've ever dreamed of starting an online business so that you could live and work from a remote, tropical island heaven, then this episode will give you some serious inspiration! In it I catch up with an incredible member from the Members' Club, Sophie Le Brozec! Sophie and her husband decided to leave London in search of sunnier climes, and with the knowledge that they could run their online businesses from anywhere in the world, they moved to the gorgeous island of Mauritius. Sophie is the founder of Life Reboot Camp, an online program and community that helps women get the most and the best out of their life. When she was 17, Sophie would joke that her dream was to live on a French-speaking tropical island. Fast forward to the present day, and she now lives that exact dream! With a little help from her husband, who was always interested in entrepreneurship, Sophie shed her mindset that a traditional, "stable" job is best and that building your own business is "dangerous". She started with a mummy blog during her pregnancy in 2012 and from there, discovered the limitless opportunities of the online world. That's when she joined the Members' Club, which Sophie says helped her stumble upon her current business idea, which had always been the missing piece of the puzzle. She launched her business two months after joining and has since created amazing success! In this podcast, Sophie and I discuss: Her journey from living in the South of France, on to London and then to running an online business from Mauritius. The epiphany she had a month after joining FEA and how she launched her business idea only a month after that. How she surrendered control before she had clarity around her business and simply trusted that the information she needed would come to her. The fears she had to overcome as she started putting herself and her business out there and being really vulnerable with what she was sharing. The incredible way her business has grown since launching in February 2018 and how she has since written a book and hosted a retreat in the UK. The reaction and self-assurance she had after the first sale from someone she didn't know! The internal work she had to do on herself when all she wanted to do was run and hide shortly after launching her business as she feared being judged. Why having an online community of like-minded women is so important to her. Her incredible journey to writing her book: How To Be Happy...No Matter What Sh!t Life Throws At You, which talks about all the difficult experiences she's gone through and the tools she learnt to overcome unhappiness. Sophie's top tips for success are: Anything bad that happens is there for a reason - it's a learning experience or something that you need to go through to experience something better. When you're trying to figure out what the next step is, don't get too consumed with what other people have done and what the "right" thing is - think about what YOU want and how you're going to make it happen. Don't listen too much to other people's thoughts, many times they are simply projecting their own insecurities onto you. Don't accept "societal norms" if you are unhappy. Life is not about sitting up and putting up, because that's "just the way it is". You have complete control of your life and your happiness so decide what will make you happy and do it.
