Today we begin a 4 part series on the book of Jonah. In each of these 4 weeks we will discover a connection between Jonah’s mission and the current Wildwood mission statement, “serving freely, moving hearts, making disciples and caring deeply”. In Jonah’s case he failed significantly at serving freely and caring deeply. As we work through the text we will see ourselves in Jonah’s story and identify and apply the deeper mission the Lord has called us to as individuals and as a collective body of believers. It should be noted that the approach taken in studying Jonah is that it is a true historical narrative which occurred around 780-760 BC during the reign of Jeroboam II in the northern kingdom.
