In this episode, we are going to discuss Alexis Avila, a then 18-year-old woman who was accused of quite literally tossing her newborn baby into a dumpster. Recently Alexee Trevizo’s case, the New Mexico teen that dumped her baby in the hospital trash can, has gone viral worldwide. In one part of the infamous body cam footage, Alexee’s mother says, “Alexee, don’t you know about the girls who do this to their babies, and they go to jail???” Well, today, we are going to talk about who I believe Rosa was referring to– the girl who did this to their baby and went to jail– Alexis Avila. Today we are revisiting the case of Dennis and Cynthia Perkins. Dennis Perkins and his then-wife, a former Livingston Parish schoolteacher, had faced a total of 150 felony charges after their arrests in 2019. Cynthia Perkins pleaded guilty last year to reduced charges and was sentenced to 41 years in prison in a deal contingent upon her testifying against her ex-husband, had he gone to trial.
