Show Notes

Jesse Cochard is the owner of Chez Pierre Cabaret, Edmonton's oldest continually-operating "strip club". It was founded by his grandfather in 1969 and he assumed ownership in 2009. He also managed to keep the club afloat during the pandemic with some ingenious business ideas.

In this interview, recorded on location at Chez Pierre, Jesse discusses his grandfather's incredible story--how he found his way to Edmonton from Belgium, making money as a prizefighter--the ups and downs of running a taboo business, why do women get into exotic dancing, and why it's so important to keep this legendary business in the family.
