Show Notes

Luke Dunn and his family run "Oak Hills", a mixed farming operation near Mandagery, 30km east of Parkes in the Central West. They focus on wool and sheep-meat production and are passionate about creating a consistent product.

In today's episode, Luke talks through the process of fleece weighting at shearing time, a process they undertake to help them produce a consistent product and help drive decision-making around their wool enterprise. Luke also shares how he's minimising their farming business's risk with diversified sheep enterprises, including merinos, crossbred lambs, and wool-growing wethers.

Local Land Services Mixed Farming Officer Rohan Leach met Luke in the shearing shed for this chat amongst the sheep.
