Show Notes
Washington Governor Bob Ferguson signed a new law, Senate Bill five nine one seven, to improve access to the states mifepristone stockpile. The law removes the old rule that required selling the abortion pills at cost plus a five-dollar fee per dose, allowing the state to distribute them for free. The state previously returned thirty thousand expiring doses to the manufacturer, but the new law aims to prevent waste and protect reproductive health care amid national legal battles. The bill passed largely along party lines, with some bipartisan support. The state recently purchased another seventeen thousand six hundred doses, and lawmakers also restored eight point five million dollars in funding for the Abortion Access Project.
