Show Notes
Spring shellfish season is in full swing in Washington state, with low tides revealing clams, mussels, and oysters on public beaches. Oysters are best from now until April, while razor clams are available from October to April. Dungeness crab is peak in summer and fall. Whatcom County beaches offer a variety of shellfish, but always check the states shellfish safety map before digging. Harvesters are encouraged to choose quieter weekdays or less busy sites to maintain sustainability. New rules in 2026 will include shifted seasons, a minimum size for Nuttalls cockles, and a daily limit of one geoduck. Officials will enforce these rules strictly to protect future shellfish harvests.
