Show Notes

The worlds first passenger light rail on a floating bridge, connecting Bellevue to Seattle, is set to open on March twenty-eighth. This new seven-mile stretch, approved by Puget Sound voters in 2008, promises to be the most reliable section of the fifty-eight-mile network. With extra electric substations and crossover switches, it can handle power glitches and track issues without long shutdowns. Performance has improved significantly, with delays dropping from thirty-six hours a month last year to just six hours in January. Modernization work is underway, targeting aging power systems and controls, to ensure even fewer disruptions as thousands more riders cross the lake daily.
