NOAA issues El Niño Watch for later this year, with a 55% chance of neutral conditions in May-June, and a 62% chance of El Niño from June-August. El Niño could bring warmer, drier winters to the Pacific Northwest, but its not a guarantee. Current trends suggest a one in three chance of a strong El Niño from October-December. This winters weak La Niña didnt deliver expected cold and wet conditions, with snowpack around Puget Sound at 59-79% of normal and the Olympics at 47%.
