Show Notes

In 1948, Leroy Ed Parsons revolutionized television in Astoria, Oregon, by creating the first community antenna TV system. Using antennas, coaxial cables, repeaters, and boosters, he brought Seattles signals to his town, charging a one-time fee for installation. His innovative approach made headlines and paved the way for small towns to access multiple channels. Despite health issues, he sold the operation to Cox Cable in 1951 and moved to Alaska, leaving behind a legacy as the pioneer of cable television.
