Denney Goodhew, a renowned jazz legend, passed away at 73 after a battle with pulmonary fibrosis. Known for his work on alto saxophone and other reed instruments, Goodhew earned five Earshot Jazz Golden Ear Awards and recorded over 50 albums. Born in Walla Walla, he played with jazz giants like Sam Rivers and later taught at Cornish College of the Arts. Despite personal struggles and health issues, Goodhew continued to inspire young musicians until his retirement in 2015. A memorial concert is planned in his honor.
