Show Notes

Join us for a celebration of Bessie Colemans legacy as the first Black and Native American woman to earn an international pilots license. The Seattle Association of Black Journalists presents Black Voices Matter: Aviatrix, a tribute to Colemans groundbreaking achievements. Despite racial and gender barriers, Coleman trained in France and returned as a daring stunt pilot. Her life is now the subject of a new musical by former news anchor Poe Russell. Dont miss the preview at the Northwest African American Museum on March 14th, or the world premiere at Seattle Public Theater from May 15th to June 7th. Tickets support a scholarship for future Black journalists.
