The Seattle Mariners lost their first spring training game to the Arizona Diamondbacks, 3-1. Starting pitcher Luis Castillo had a rocky first inning but settled down. The Mariners relievers kept the Diamondbacks scoreless for the rest of the game. The Mariners only run came from a fielders choice in the seventh. Left fielder Rhylan Thomas made a spectacular diving catch in the first. Jose Ferrer had a perfect fifth inning, earning player of the game honors. The Mariners face the San Diego Padres on Saturday, with top prospect Kade Anderson making his Mariners debut.
