#1 New York Times bestselling author Scott Sigler presents THE ROOKIE, Season One of the Galactic Football League series, a high-octane mashup of scifi, crime fiction, and sports drama. "THE ROOKIE is a futuristic ride that takes football to the next level.” John Clayton, ESPN Set in a lethal, star-spanning pro football league 700 years in the future, THE ROOKIE is a story that combines the criminal underworld of THE GODFATHER with the space-opera style of STAR WARS and the intense gridiron action of ANY GIVEN SUNDAY. "A summer blockbuster movie in print. If you're a sports fan, a scifi reader - or both - this book is a touchdown of a read." Lars Anderson, SPORTS ILLUSTRATED Aliens and humans alike play positions based on physiology, creating receivers that jump 25 feet into the air, linemen that bench-press 1,200 pounds, and linebackers that literally want to eat you. Organized crime runs every franchise, games are fixed, and rival players are assassinated. “You're not gonna get actual sports that are as gleefully entertaining and as batsh*t insane as what unfolds in The Rookie anytime soon." Drew Magary, DEFECTOR Follow the story of Quentin Barnes, a 19-year-old quarterback prodigy who has been raised all his life to hate and kill the very aliens he’ll play with and against. Quentin must deal with his racism and learn to lead, or he'll wind up just another stat in the column marked "died on the field." "If you like scifi and sports, you're unlikely to find a better combination than THE ROOKIE." Phil Plait, DISCOVER MAGAZINE THE ROOKIE is free wherever you listen to podcasts.
