Ann Druyan in Conversation with Prof Brian Cox and Robin Ince - Science Shambles at bluedot
The blue dot Festival takes its name from Carl Sagan's famous Pale Blue Dot speech and as part of the Weekend in Outer Space we at The Cosmic Shambles Network have teamed up with the blue dot festival for this very special event. She was the Creative Director of NASA's Voyager Interstellar Message Project, better known as "The Golden Record" and co-writer of the iconic series Cosmos presented by her late husband Carl Sagan. They also co-wrote a number of books together, produced the film Contact and now Ann is the creator and co-producer of two Cosmos sequel series "Cosmos: A Spacetime Odyssey" and "Cosmos: Possible Worlds" Obviously the entire Shambles crew would've been up at blue dot with a large number of events this year, as always, so we're delighted to be able to bring you this special event online during this very weird thing we're calling 2020. As with all the different livestreams and podcasts we've been doing during lockdown, they're only possible through he generous support of our Patreon subscribers. Join neuroscientist Dr Dean Burnett (Why Your Parents are Driving You Up the Wall and The Idiot Brain) and psychologists Dr Suzi Gage (Say Why to Drugs) and Dr Pete Etchells (Lost in a Good Game in conversation to consider whether we’re being overly dismissive when it comes adolescence and the challenges that presents. Science in the Background
The type of science stories that make the mainstream headlines are usually those that feature big, flashy discoveries or something that means we can spend a few hours pretending we found aliens.
