Jeffrey Kleintop expects excluded categories like semiconductors and pharmaceuticals to have tariffs announced by April 9: “there’s more bad news to come, I’m afraid.” He expects “staged retaliations” from Europe but thinks there could be negotiations beforehand. He says one would usually expect the dollar to rise when tariffs are announced, but this isn’t happening this time because of concerns around economic growth.
