David Lee, COO & CFO of Webtoon (WBTN), discusses the online comic business. He notes that most of the creators working on their platform have other full-time jobs. However, webcomics are increasingly being turned into movies, he adds. Gen Z consumers are a big part of their audience, and David attributes Webtoon’s success to its vertical digital format. “This thing ports really well” across mediums and languages, David says, offering them worldwide access. David also discusses how Webtoon and Disney are partnering on a comics platform that will have titles from franchises like Star Wars, Marvel Comics, and more.
