Bea focuses on how these earnings can give us insight into the consumer economy, looking at the most recent Retail Sales data as well. “They have the negotiating power” for prices, Bea adds. Charlie expects a “surprise to the upside,” but says if WMT is in trouble, that “portends some serious pain for other retailers.”
