Smith looks at import data, saying tariffs have “really started to affect things on the ground,” and, “things are going to get worse before they get better.” Uncertainty is weighing on the market, he argues, and it’s making bonds looks like risky assets. He thinks rates could go “quite a bit higher” from here. He adds that it’s “entirely possible” we don’t see any rate cuts this year.
