Most stocks closed lower as many investors trimmed exposure ahead of Fed chair Jerome Powell's Jackson Hole speech. The same was seen in the biggest stock movers, including Walmart (WMT), which sold off following a rare earnings miss. Meta Platforms (META) made headlines after freezing A.I. hiring after offering expensive pay packages to its latest round of "superintelligence" recruits. Boeing (BA) gave up early gains off reports that it's in talks of selling hundreds of jets to China. Sam Vadas takes investors through Thursday's biggest market stories.
