Erik Lundh covers consumer sentiment in an uncertain environment. He expects the Iran war to weigh on the economy this year – gasoline prices are especially in focus. He anticipates demand destruction as consumers think gas prices will stay high. If oil prices stay elevated, it also makes it difficult for the Fed to cut rates to support the labor market over inflationary fears. Healthcare is helping prop up the economy and labor market right now.
