A potentially weeks-long trial begins for Meta Platforms (META) to keep its Instagram and WhatsApp platforms. The FTC seeks to divest the platforms from Meta after accusing the company of using them to maintain its dominant position. A linchpin to CEO Mark Zuckerberg's argument is TikTok and how it takes much of Meta's targeted user base. Joel Hawthorne thinks Meta can return as a leader in a market rebound despite uncertainty around the trial.
