“The box office in October was historically bad,” says Shawn Robbins, but he sees the picture brightening through December with Wicked: For Good and Zootopia 2. He thinks Thanksgiving weekend could top Memorial Day, the strongest of the year so far. Because of the ease of watching at home, quality and the experience both matter to get people to the theater but viewing habits have permanently changed.
