Andrew Sillitoe is a business psychologist, author, and speaker. His innovative approach to leadership and work-life balance has earned him invitations to work with a range of global companies, including Pfizer, Nationwide, Virgin, and the BBC. Today Andrew is the CEO at Team Head Coach which runs the UK's number- one training company for entrepreneurs and business owners who want to succeed in business, health, relationships, and mindset.
Andrew has authored two books including, 'The Four Keys: How to Win in Your Business, Body, Relationships, and Mindset' and 'Manage The Mist: How to develop winning mindset and create high performing teams.'
Throughout Andrew's life sport and business have always been intertwined. He was the first British player to play professional roller hockey in North America, competing for his country and was fortunate enough to pull on the jersey in 11 world championships. When he wasn't competing, he was managing teams, consulting with CEOs, and working as a performance coach with business leaders and teams throughout Europe, the Middle East, and the U.S.
It was here in 2012 that he first identified the role of a 'player-coach' in business and where he saw high-performance contributors who were skilled at what they did become overwhelmed, stressed, and anxious because of what was happening in their business. He identified some glaring problems including lack of formal leadership training, poor time management skills, poor communication, an inability to delegate, but even with all this they were still performing well.
Key points we talk about include:
- The four keys to support sustainable scaling
- The importance of personal transformation through inner work to affect your business scaling ambition
- Setting a personal and professional vision of how you will look, act, and feel in the future
- The importance of letting go and focusing on the things you can control
- Some personal practises and disciplines which help seed scaling mindset
Key Takeaway
'Think about life in four keys - your business, your body, your relationship and your mindset. Some people think that they have got to be 100% at all of them. Like an equaliser, sometimes when you're scaling a business you think you need to be all in on the business putting in 12 to 13-hour days and 50-hour weeks, but it doesn't mean we switch the other three off which is sometimes what happens. We can become blind to the fact that it's more than that and business leaders need to ask themselves that if they only focus on work how will that show up in my relationships, what can I do for my body and my mind?'
