Diplomatic efforts to help end the war in Ukraine are picking up speed but a number of important obstacles remain, keeping peace out of reach. Following a meeting between United States President Donald Trump and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy there are now efforts to call a trilateral meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin. However, the issue of control over Ukraine's eastern territories, post-war security assurances and the fate of tens of thousands of abducted Ukrainian children remain unresolved.
