And I said, "Oh my God." I thought it was the neighbors. There's some apartments over here that's behind, they're called Coral Gables, and they always like shooting over there, these young people. So I jumped out on the floor and because the sound was getting closer, got out of that chair over there and came over here and pulled my granddaughter by her legs and said, "Cailyn, wake up. They're shooting outside. They're shooting." And she said, "What, Grandma?" I said, "Yeah, they're shooting. Lay down. We went all the way around to the bedroom on the floor, me and her. And I said, "Papa, they're shooting." He said, "Yeah." Then he said that he thought he heard somebody at the window, but I said, "Well, call the police. See what's going on. S2 Ep 6John Horton - Part 2

https://www.dcpofficial.com/saytheirname John Horton died at the age of 22, while in a solitary confinement cell in Los Angeles' Men's Central Jail. John's mother, Helen and family believe the LA County's coroners claim of suicide was staged to help move attention away from the potential that John was killed by a Los Angeles Sheriff Department gang known as the 3000 Boys. Find out more about the traumatic death of John Horton as well as his families fight for justice, not just for John, but for others who died a similar fate. CALL TO ACTION Helen Jones would like you to use whatever means possible to amplify… “John Horton who was murdered, beat to death on March 30th 2009 in Men's Central Jail by ten 3000 Boys’ deputy Sheriff gang members that viciously run the 3rd floor of Men's Central County Jail. 12 years later and still no justice for John.” “Jalani Lovett who was also beaten to death and murdered by the 3000 Boys deputy sheriff gang on September 22nd 2021. And the 3000 Boys gang tried to stage Jalani Lovett's death.” “WE MUST STOP THE SHERIFF'S GANGS FROM COMMITING GENOCIDE ON OUR CHILDREN NOW. They ruled that his death was caused by asphyxia, due to self-inflicted hanging. CHIME#2 12:08 (SKIP ahead :30 seconds) The first day they came here visiting me they said it, too. They say they beat him to death. You got the pictures because we took pictures at the mortuary, John was also handcuffed by one arm when they was beating him. The handcuff was on his wrist so tight that it left a flesh ring. He must was trying to get out of it and it cut a even circle in flesh around his wrist, it was that deep. probably while they was beating him he was trying to get out of it, whatever they had him handcuffed to. CHIME#3 57:09 (skip ahead 1 min) Tamiko Tyler, he was killed in Wayside by the sheriffs, and they beat Tamiko. They tried to say Tamiko fell off from bed, hit his head. But all the time they beat Tamiko, bust his teeth, broke his ribs. They did a lot to Tamiko. And Juan Korea. He got killed in the county jail too. They tried to say he had a heart attack, but all the time, Juan got blunt force trauma to the head, blunt force trauma to the chest, blunt force trauma to the back. They tased him so many times. They did something to his spine too, to where he couldn't walk. And right now, so far you getting away with his death, And Juan, they took his brain. Haven't gave his brain back to his family yet because it's damaged. Because he got blunt force trauma in the head. And the colonel never told his family he had blunt force trauma to the head. Not even attorneys told his family he had blunt force trauma, So his death is ruled as a heart attack. S1 Ep 15Say Their Name: #GetLouder

Adell and Chris wrap up Season 1 of Say Their Name, reflecting on what they learned and their call to action with the #GetLouder campaign as we support Georgia in the Senate Runoff. CALL TO ACTION: Donate to Families - https://gf.me/u/yk5y4f #GetLouder is a rallying cry for all Black and Brown communities that have been disproportionately impacted by policing in America. It is an ethos, but is also a call-to-action that amplifies the act of voting as well as collective storytelling. We have to #GetLouder in and for Georgia because creating a Democratic senate is critical in setting us up to pass much needed legislation like the George Floyd Justice in Policing Act. By amplifying our voice and the voices of families who continue to live with the trauma of police violence, this campaign will build on Say Their Name podcast to further enforce the need for reform, accountability, and collective investment in making change. S1 Ep 14Duane Strong Jr. - Part 2

E

Duane’s family and his attorney speak about his unexpected death, and the lack of justice for them and other families in Florida. Donate to Families - https://gf.me/u/yk5y4f WARNING: CHIME #1 (skip ahead 2 minute 34 seconds) So after that fight, Tony did about an hour long Facebook Live, pretty much talking about all the trauma that he's experienced in his life, from being beaten from five years old, for 12 years. Not having the love of the family, not having the love of the community, being locked up for 15 years of his adult life. Pretty much being warehoused, not getting any treatment or anything like that. And one thing that when I saw it, and I know Tony from growing up. There are so many Tony's out there. And that's what drew me to the story. Whether it be the trauma, whether it be the disappointment, whether it be, people use you, all those kinds of things, and you never know when somebody's at their end. And Tony was clearly at his end. And so he said, in the video, he was going to find him, he was going to get revenge and kill him. And that it was going to have to be a standoff with law enforcement, because he wasn't going back to jail. And so the next morning, the people who he fought, live in the same apartment complex that he did. So he stayed over at a friend's house to avoid it, went home to change clothes, saw one of the guys, Malik and saw him sitting in the car, he approached him. There was a stab and both of them, ended up stabbed. Malik passed away. Tony was also stabbed. Tony then called, Wanda McDade, which is Tony's mom, on the way back to the apartment. And by the time they got back to the apartment, Tony noticed one law enforcement officer pulling up. So Tony walked over to the tree where you might've saw some of the videos. There was a tree where Tony was killed, and Wanda got out of the car, went straight to the officer and said, you got to help him. You got to help him. He's suicidal. Wanda McDade's mom still refer to Tony as a daughter, say, my daughter, she's suicidal, she's suicidal. You got to help her. They just kept approaching, another officer pulled up. And from what everybody was saying, didn't say much, it was barely out of his car, and shot Tony five times. They found shells inside the squad car. The original story, mom said that Tony didn't have a gun, law enforcement officer saying that Tony did have a gun. CALL TO ACTION: Donate to Families - https://gf.me/u/yk5y4f WARNING: CHIME #1 (skip ahead 1 minute) At the same time, because they called it in, this other officer Fallis. had decided to just block off the parking lot and say, nobody in, nobody out, So Fallis was there, the other officers, the black officer and there was one other officer that came up the hill. Those officers are telling Fallis to stop that vehicle, stop that vehicle. So, when you read the report, it says that he was like, banging in the cars, bumper cars, and bumped this car, bumped that car, speeding through the parking lot. They’re saying, hey, stop. And the officer just started shooting and the first shot went straight through the windshield, hit him right away. And then he kept shooting. So it was a lot of bullets down the side of the car. So he kept shooting him as he drove away into the back windshield. But Duane, he didn’t make it probably about 200 yards down the street, car drove into the woods and he died right there on the scene. https://www.dcpofficial.com/duane-strong CREDITS: Host: Adell Coleman & Chris Colbert Executive Producers: Adell Coleman & Chris Colbert Edited & Sound Design: Byron Hunt Producers: Jacqueline Garofano and Ryan Woodhall Associate Producers: Maria Beckett & Quinton Hill Content Distribution: DCP Entertainment See acast.com/privacy for privacy and opt-out information. Well, he told somebody that, and they told me, but they didn’t want to- Go on record? Go on record. They just- They told you that he said that he was going to end up killing one of them little young niggers out there on that medication. He said, “Mr. Crawford, are you sure you want to?” I said, “Absolutely sure. I said, I’m giving you instruction, sir. Just don’t touch the body. He said, I got you. That’s fine. You want me to leave his body in the body bag, and just leave it in the morgue?” I said, ”Yes, and I will be there in the morning to view the body myself. I left that morning, took a trip right up the street there. He led me to the morgue, and he pointed to me, he said, “He’s right over there. I walk up to the gurney. He was on the slab then, and I unzipped the body bag. It was the most horrific thing I’ve ever seen, I wanted to. He said, “You okay?” I said, “Yeah, I’m okay.” I took my son’s, laid the body bag over. First thing I did was I took his arms out. I wanted to see for myself without the coroner's report. How many holes did he have in his body? I could see where his radius and all layers in one arm where the shot. Where it went through and exit and it broke it obviously. And then I lifted up his right arm and I could clearly see the enter and exit wounds. That one bullet, went through two arms, so I could see it. Then I looked and I could see where his upper torso, it was kind of coming at a slant that other one. He must have moved when that second one came in him, It was around the kidney on one end and up through the liver on the other end, so I could see both of those CHIME# 2 (skip ahead 2 mins 20 seconds) The police narrative was that John Crawford walked into Walmart. He was walking through the store. He picked up a BB gun that was sitting on the shelf. As he's walking through the store, there was a 911 caller that made the call that they believed that John was, or they gave the narrative that John was pointing what they believed to be a real rifle at patrons in the store. That 911 call was with a dispatcher. The dispatcher called the police officer. The police officer came to the store. He walked through the store. What he's indicated is that he saw John. He gave John multiple commands to put down the, what he believed to be a real firearm. John did not obey the commands. John, turned towards him in an aggressive manner with the gun pointing at the officer, and that's why the officer had to shoot and kill John. They said he was pointing the gun at people. And in the store at kids, And then he was standing facing the shelving in Walmart and talking on the phone and they shot him. People were shopping. There was a lady named... I think her name was Williams. That was with two little kids. She watched the whole thing and then she dropped dead. He peeked out an aisle, he saw. He tried to issue a cadence to him, something to the effect, “Put your gun down,” or something. My son, he’s looking at items on the shelf, talking on the phone, with the airsoft rifle down to the side. And you can hear Darkow, while he’s trying to issue the cadence, Williams just comes around him, And while he’s still trying to get my son’s attention... Williams just taking it amongst himself to just circle inside him and shoot him, 300ths of a second my son is shot at 16 feet away, Me and Crawford and the boys was inside doing grandparent thing. I wasn't in there maybe 10 minutes, and LeeCee just started screaming. "Ah, Mr. John, Mr. John, they shot him, they shot him, they shot Looney." I said, "What did she just say?" "He's calling your name. He's calling, he's saying dad, dad..." I say, "Oh, shit." I jumped off the couch, ran out there. She was running towards us, "Tressa, John, Tressa." She is shaking like a leaf, man. I mean, that phone was about to hit the ground when I'd grabbed at it, Tressa grabbed at it. But I did get the phone from her and trying to call his name. I put him on speaker and calling his name. Of course there was no response. At the time you can clearly hear the paramedics have gotten there, and they said, "Try to stay, stay with us, stay with us sir, keep your arms, raise your arms, raise them and just try to stay with them." You can just hear the breathing and the gurgling, and the breathing. He was desperately trying to live. He said, "Just stay with us, stay us." All of a sudden, it just, there was this big, big exhale. And that was it. https://www.dcpofficial.com/john-crawford CREDITS: Host: Adell Coleman & Chris Colbert Executive Producers: Adell Coleman & Chris Colbert Edited & Sound Design: Byron Hunt Producers: Jacqueline Garofano and Ryan Woodhall Associate Producers: Maria Beckett & Quinton Hill Content Distribution: DCP Entertainment See acast.com/privacy for privacy and opt-out information. He threw me against the garage door. And when he did that, Robbie pushed up and. And I lost it. I hopped up and said, "Get your fucking hands off my mom". And he didn't say a word. He never said, "Stay down. Get back down." Nothing. He pulled his gun. And I mean it was like slow motion almost. I remember, it really was like slow motion. Because I remember seeing him draw his gun and I was like, "He's not going to shoot me. He's not going to shoot me". And then the gun went off and I was like, "He didn't shoot me. He didn't shoot me". And then I started feeling this pressure, and fell back against the front door and collapsed. It was all slow motion. I saw the red, the fire from the gun because he shot him right in front of me. He was standing to my left and shot across me. So I saw the fire from the gun. And then I heard Robbie say, "Oh God." And then I knew he was hit. You could see smoke coming from his chest. For whatever reason in my little cartoon brain, I was thinking, "Well, maybe it was a rubber bullet". "That wasn't real", just in disbelief. And so I was laying on the ground and I put my hand up under my shirt and I pulled it out, and it was dripping in blood. Just covered, blood running down my forearm. And my mom said something like, "Oh my God, I can see smoke coming from his chest", or something. And the cop, real calmly said, "Ma'am, that's just the bullet tearing through the fibers of his shirt. Calm down, it's not a big deal". Well, I guess my knees gave out because I... My hands were still up and I slid against the garage door, down. And I said, I said, "Robbie call the name of Jesus." And I started praying. Just started praying, praying because I wanted him to hear me. I wanted him to be focused on my voice and I wanted him to pray. And I just said, "Call His name. Say His name. Call the name of Jesus." Like screaming, praying loudly, loud enough to where I would hear, but she started praying and they kept telling her to be quiet. S1 Ep 4Jamar (Clark) Burns-Hill - Part 2

Jamar’s family, along with activists Jess Sundin and Loretta VanPelt speak about Jamar’s untimely death, the petition to reopen his case, and how their lawyer prophetically warned Minneapolis in 2019 that if another unarmed Black person was killed by police, the city would explode. CALL TO ACTION: Sign Petition to demand community control of the police - https://sites.google.com/view/tcc4j/home Donate to Families - https://gf.me/u/yk5y4f RESOURCES: · Project Jamar Saving Me - https://www.savingme.org/ · Twin Cities Coalition for Justice 4 Jamar - www.facebook.com/TCC4J/ · Families Supporting Families Against Police Violence - https://www.facebook.com/fsfapv WARNING: CHIME #1 (skip ahead 2 minutes) But nonetheless, what they say is that while he was on the ground, Ringgenberg claims that his gun had shifted on his belt. Shouldn’t have been possible, but it did. And it was directly between Jamar and him. It’s on his back. And so it’s pressed into Jamar and he says, he’s trying to keep his hand on the gun and hold it in. He says he can feel Jamar’s hand around the gun. And he started screaming to Schwarze immediately, “He’s got my gun, shoot him.” Immediately and Schwarze just starts panicking and he yells at him, “Let him go. Or I’ll fire on you. Let him go” Yeah. A few times. And continually, while this is going on, Ringgenberg is, telling him to shoot Jamar. Ultimately he puts his gun to his head and he says, “I’m going to fire.” And he claims, Schwarze he claims that Jamar said, “I’m not afraid to die” It seems unusual. This is the very first words that Jamar has said to either officer at all. It’s just an unusual first statement to make. But Schwarze, he says, “that’s what he said.” And there’s no one to say it wasn’t. Schwarze he presses his gun against his head. You’re not supposed to do that. He was excited. And under stress. That puts the gun out of chamber. If somebody has an automatic weapon pointed, it’s semiautomatic, you can press on the barrel and it’s called putting the weapon out of chamber and it won’t fire. So he pulls it and he can’t do it. So, he had to pull back. He tells Ringgenberg, “Give me a second.” And he cocks the slide to reengage the weapon. And he puts it back to his head. He says, “I’m going to fire” This time he’s warning Ringgenberg. And he fires. And then at that point, they get out from under him. The press made a big deal of the fact that they found Jamar’s DNA on the weapon. And that’s pretty stupid. I mean, he was shot with an explosive weapon at point blank range. His DNA is on everything within a 20-foot radius. CHIME #2 (skip ahead 30 seconds) There was a young man, a 10-year-old little boy that witnessed Jamar being killed, saw the shooting. He even described the smoke that came from Jamar’s face after being killed. Usually he’ll come to the tree for the anniversary and birthday. Last year, he didn’t, so I believe his mom moved.
