Susie King Taylor, a Civil War nurse and first Black teacher for formerly enslaved children, is now honored by the National Park Service. Her escape from slavery and role in guiding others to freedom are recognized at the newly certified Susie King Taylor Freedom Park in Liberty County, Georgia.
