Chatham Countys Board of Commissioners appointed former Tybee Island Mayor Shirley Sessions to temporarily fill the District four seat, following Pat Farrells resignation to run for U.S. House District one. Sessions, with extensive local government experience, will serve until a special election on May nineteenth. Farrell, who held the District four post since 2004, has qualified for the House race, joining six Republicans in the May nineteenth primary. Qualifying for the special election begins March eighteenth.
