Savannah State University is set to induct Dr. Jermaine Whirl as its fifteenth president on April 17, 2026. The event marks the formal transfer of leadership and celebrates the universitys history and future aspirations. Dr. Whirl, one of the youngest leaders at HBCUs and an Aspen Fellow, has already initiated the Uproar 2030 strategic plan, focusing on student success, staff development, branding, facilities, and community engagement. The university, Georgias first public HBCU, has created the Hyundai College of Education and expanded from four to five colleges under Dr. Whirls leadership. The investiture week includes community service, a jazz concert, a pep rally, and a scholarship gala, followed by campus tours.
