Spring Migration: Ruby-Throated Hummingbirds Arriving in Georgia
As spring arrives in Georgia, ruby-throated hummingbirds are on their way north for nesting. These birds typically reach Georgia from late February to mid-March, with northern areas waiting until early April. While no confirmed sightings have been reported yet, one bird was spotted in Sneads, Florida. Georgia hosts eleven hummingbird species, with the ruby-throated being the only one that nests here regularly. To attract these birds to your yard, plant red flowers or mix homemade nectar. Keep an eye out for peak arrivals around the vernal equinox on March twentieth.
