Show Notes

Georgia oyster farmers are advocating for a longer summer harvest window to avoid Vibrio bacteria. Last year, a two-hour chill requirement after harvesting was implemented, but new research shows that oysters remain safe up to four and a half hours post-harvest. This could significantly benefit Georgias fledgling aquaculture industry, which has only two active farms. The Department of Natural Resources is considering expanding harvest times, and public comments are welcome until April twenty-third.
