Show Notes
With just two days left, candidates for Georgia governor in 2026 have until Monday to officially qualify. So far, fewer than half of those who announced their bids have completed the process. On the Democratic side, Derrick Jackson, Geoff Duncan, Jason Esteves, and Keisha Bottoms have qualified. For Republicans, Brad Raffensperger and Chris Carr lead the pack. To qualify, candidates need to be at least 30 years old, U.S. citizens for 15 years, and Georgia residents for 6 years prior. They must head to the State Capitol with photo ID, a candidacy notice, and pay a qualifying fee of $5,549.78. Governor Brian Kemp wont seek a third term, leaving the field wide open. Primaries are set for May 19th, with possible runoffs on June 6th, and the general election on November 3rd. Keep an eye on the Capitol this weekend, as last-minute qualifiers could shake up the race.
