Tree New Mexicos Tree or C initiative in Truth or Consequences, New Mexico, is thriving, thanks to local coordinator Mary Curtin and dedicated volunteers. Funded by a U.S. Forest Service grant, their mission is to enhance shade and resilience against harsh climate conditions. Since 2024, theyve planted over six hundred trees, with events drawing fifty to seventy-five people each. This weekend, theyll plant sixty more and give away one hundred, using a diverse mix of species. The project is not only cooling neighborhoods but also fostering community connections.
